  Please for the love of god hire more cashiers and open more check out lanes. Either the management is unbelievably cheap or just doesn’t care. The lines here are unbearable.

  A single check out line that comes to a complete halt while the single checker is overwhelmed by a HIGH maintenance coupon check-the-ads-every-time customer (checker left to shop FOR them) for 20 minutes. NO ONE in charge up front, no one notices or assists. Fiasco at premium prices. Baffled by: who here is the manager? Best wishes.

  I am extremely frustrated with the customer service at this Vons, specifically at the butcher/meat department. This is NOT the first time I have come here and stood at the counter waiting for service, only to eventually find out that the employee responsible for the department is on break. Today was especially ridiculous. I waited at the butcher counter with absolutely NO sign or notice saying that the department was temporarily unattended. The employee was actually inside the store, talking to another employee who was stocking fruit. When I approached him and asked if there was anyone who could help me at the butcher counter, he told me he still had 20 minutes left on his break. I then went to speak with the supervisor, who told me there was nobody else available to cover the department. When I asked why they don’t simply put up a sign letting customers know that the butcher is on break and will return at a certain time, she told me that corporate does not allow them to put up a notice. So what exactly are customers supposed to do? Stand there waiting like idiots with no idea that NO ONE is coming to help them? Employees are absolutely entitled to their breaks. That is NOT the problem. The problem is management scheduling a department with no coverage and then providing customers with ZERO communication. If there is nobody available to serve customers, CLOSE THE COUNTER TEMPORARILY or find a way to clearly communicate that the department is unavailable. Do not leave customers standing there wasting their time waiting for someone who isn’t coming. This has happened to me more than once, which makes it even more unacceptable. This is a management and customer-service issue that Vons needs to address.

  I was at self-checkout purchasing alcohol as a gift. I was unaware that alcohol could not be purchased through self-checkout because I never buy alcohol. When the attendant at self check out Divina approached me, instead of simply explaining the policy, her tone came across as very rude and unprofessional. She told me, “You can’t get this here you have to go over there pointing at the only clerk. As I stood there collect my money to go purchase it she was looking at me like I was stupid and couldn’t comprehend what she instructed me to go to another register. I said you don’t have to be rude. I followed her instructions and stood in a line with approximately 10 people. When I was next in line, she opened another register but chose to call someone from farther back in the line instead of helping the customers who were already waiting and were next in line. At that point, I picked up my item and said, “Since you told me to come over here, maybe you can check me out.” She refused and no because I said she was rude. However, she continued arguing with me about whether she had been rude and ultimately told me she was refusing to check me out and giving me service as she was helping the customer from further back in line he seemed uncomfortable with her customer service. I asked to speak with a manager, and she told me that she was the manager in charge. When I asked for her name, she identified herself as Divina. Honestly Divina has no customer skills and approach. Reading other reviews here your management might need a reset. I will never be back to a Vons again because of service from Divina.
