Sandwiches could have been better quality and taste fresher. My salad that came on top of the frittata had a long hair interwined in the salad. The staff said "oh okay" then took awhile to give another plate and no apology.

I've been a longtime customer at the State St. shop and came in after being away for some months. I brought my friends with me to purchase a 5 lb bag of beans and snacks. I purchased the 5 lb bag and my friend asked for, clearly pointing to a nutella pie shaped pastry. After paying I noticed that instead, a small cup type item with nutella was supplied. My friend hadn't handled or touched it and expressed that she wanted the other item which cost more and she was fine to pay the difference. My friend rang up the other item and I noticed that the clerk placed the original unwanted item in the bag as well. I thought she was simply giving it to her. It turns out that the clerk refused to handle the exchange. My friends were unambiguous with what we wanted and it was the clerk's error. I was present when the second transaction was occurring. My friend wasn't up to the fight but I am. We spent $70 and the disputed item was only a couple bucks but it left us very annoyed.

SENSATIONAL SERVICE ! My wife and I were down in Little Italy on Saturday to take in the Art Walk for the first time in at least 10 years.....the streets were packed out everywhere. We wandered around for a while looking at the various art exhibits and jewelry stands..my wife bought a pair of nice earring studs. Eventually we found ourselves standing outside Pappalecco and it was 1pm....time to eat. AND THEN ! We remembered riding our bicycles here a number of times from University Heights more than 10 years ago...this was one of our fav lunch spots. Lorenzo the cheerful co-owner ( with his brother Francesco ) always had a smile for us. I stood at the end of line inside after we nabbed a small table on the sidewalk near the entrance. PRETTY BUSY ! Of course with the Art Walk in San Diego going on nearby a lot of people were coming here for a bite to eat and a good coffee. EVENTUALLY ! After a bit of a wait it was my turn to order our lunch. A smiling cashier named Dolores looked after me nicely when I ordered 1 x Caprese Focaccia and 1 x Ham & Cheese Focaccia. I happened to mention that we knew Lorenzo and Francesco from many years ago.....Dolores replied that Lorenzo was here in the kitchen. I paid by credit card and Dolores handed me table no 10. Within a minute or so Lorenzo came out of the kitchen to say hi....amazing that he remembered me after 10 years. I asked him to come out and say hi to my wife....he said he would after he washed his hands. WHOO HOO ! Within a few short minutes Lorenzo arrived with our artfully presented panini sandwiches. We had a nice chat about old times and all the new stuff these guys have going on....new cafes in Texas and Las Vegas. VERY DELICIOUS ! Our well made panini sandwiches hit the spot perfectly. DESSERT ! We weren't really thinking about dessert but they do serve fabulous gelato here. Lorenzo reappeared and asked if we wanted anything else....gelato we replied. Before we knew it Lorenzo brought us a Dark Chocolate Gelato for my wife and a Mango Sorbetto for myself. GREAT FINISH ! So relaxing sitting on the outdoor patio enjoying these delicious treats. ONE OF THE BEST !

A lucky find while searching for an authentic morning coffee in Little Italy. The presentation looks great, but the taste is even better. Friendly service and a lively crowd made it feel like a mini Roman holiday. Definitely worth a stop for a drink or quick bite.

Two visits - the first was great. Awesome gelato and fantastic drinks. Asked for a dry cappuccino and got lots of foam some milk. Next day for breakfast ordered the same - order had dry on it. Received a latte - indistinguishable from my husband's latte. Went back for the cappucino dry, received another latte although it had some more foam. Went back in a third time and I think the owner? said "I dont know how to make it" Let him know the staff did a great job with it the previous night - went to Lofty down the street who did it right.
