You can never go wrong with Nobu. And Nobu always makes the best lychee martini in the country.

My and wife went there yesterday to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere was very pleasant, food was great but very small portions. But we had to wait over an hour for our food which was pretty disappointing and frustrating. We had a lot of expectations but left unhappy and went somewhere else to eat.

Came in for a quick bite 30mins before closing. Aaron at the bar is a rockstar and took excellent care of me, less than 2 mins from sitting down I had a perfectly crafted cocktail in front of me. I hit it hard and quick, miso black cod lettuce cups, rock shrimp tempura, toro tuna nigiri, shrimp tempura maki roll and new style salmon. Also I asked if they had the miso grilled Japanese eggplant, one of my absolute favs and they made it for me even though it wasn’t on the menu. The staff at this location went above and beyond, every bite was sensational. No attitude, no gruff for coming in late. Spectacular service and to be honest I think it’s my favorite Nobu location I’ve been to thus far. Compared to Miami and Malibu there’s no question, the team at this location strives for excellence. Such a sleeper! The draft Asahi out of that machine was impeccable. Thank you for a great experience will definitely visit again!! Edit: Came back the next day, Bridgette was an absolute legend, she provided incredible service and really reinforced my opinion on just how amazing this location is. The team here really goes to lengths to provide a great experience.

Extremely disappointing and embarrassing experience. After traveling all day, we finally arrived in San Diego for an aesthetics conference. It was also my best friend’s birthday, so we made reservations at Nobu because it was conveniently attached to our hotel and we were excited to celebrate somewhere special. Earlier in the evening, we received an offer to move up our original reservation, which we accepted. Before dinner, we stopped by our conference, grabbed a drink, spoke with a few vendors and colleagues, and then made our way downstairs to Nobu for our reservation. When we arrived, the hostesses told us that outside drinks were not allowed. We had absolutely no issue with that and politely said “no problem.” We stepped just outside into the hotel lobby to finish the last few sips of wine before returning to be seated. When we came back, instead of simply seating us, one of the hostesses apparently went to get a manager without saying anything to us. The manager then came to the host stand and told us they would seat us, but they would not serve us any alcoholic beverages. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for. We were not stumbling, slurring, loud, rude, disruptive, or acting in any way inappropriate. We were simply happy to be in a new city, celebrating a birthday, attending an industry conference, and looking forward to a nice dinner. The way the situation was handled felt judgmental, disrespectful, and unnecessarily embarrassing. I have never been treated that way at a restaurant, especially one that positions itself as a high-end hospitality experience. What should have been a fun and memorable birthday dinner turned into an uncomfortable and insulting first impression of San Diego. Nobu may have the name, but this experience showed a complete lack of grace, professionalism, and hospitality. We left feeling embarrassed and disrespected — not exactly what anyone expects from a restaurant of this caliber.

Always a good time! I love the vegetarian options, especially the edamame and the Brussel sprouts.
