Nobu is a GREAT option for vegans and plant based diets! They have an off menu tofu dish which is amazing. Many of their on menu items are vegan. The edamame choclo is incredible. Nobu Style vegetable hand roll. Avocado roll. Cucumber roll. Eggplant dish. There are other options. Nobu has incredible service. Fine dining caliber. The wait staff is very helpful and friendly. The cocktail menu here is award winning and inventive. They also have a great craft MOCKTAIL menu for those who do not drink, or for those out on a week night. The atmosphere at Nobu is upscale and this location is in the middle of a vibrant area of San Diego. The Gaslamp Quarter. This is a great place to grab food before a Padre game or night out downtown.

I’ve always held Nobu in very high regard, which made this experience especially disappointing. I was in San Diego on business and staying at the Hard Rock, so I decided to have dinner at Nobu. Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, the experience went downhill. The hostess seemed focused on something else, walked away without acknowledging me, and made me feel like I was an interruption rather than a guest. When I asked for a table, I was told I could sit at the bar or the sushi counter. I politely requested a dining table instead. Although there were plenty of open tables throughout the restaurant, I was then escorted to a table right next to the kitchen. It felt like I was being seated wherever was least desirable rather than being welcomed as a customer. I declined the table and left. What disappointed me most wasn’t the table itself—it was how I was treated. The restaurant clearly had available seating, yet I felt like an afterthought or a leftover guest. Hospitality is about making people feel welcome, and unfortunately, that was completely missing during my visit. This experience has genuinely soured my opinion of Nobu. A restaurant with such a world-class reputation should deliver exceptional service from the moment a guest walks through the door. Sadly, that wasn’t my experience, and it’s left me questioning whether the brand still lives up to the standard that made it so respected in the first place

Nice restaurant with a great atmosphere and beautiful presentation. The food was good, and everything we ordered was prepared well. Nothing really surprised me, but overall it was a pleasant dining experience with good service. I’d come back again.

Chose Nobu for our 1 year anniversary. They did not miss any marks. The care, food quality and flavor shined in every dish. We each got the chefs tasting menu. Perfectly curated from raw to cooked dishes. Every-time a dish arrived, staff expertly described the dish. My boyfriend tried an assortment of Japanese beers and I had the Noburita and Aperol Spritz. Special thank you to our server Marco, he was amazing. 🥰 We will be back!

Our reservation was at 5:30, which turned out to be perfect timing. We got to witness the restaurant coming to life, the waiters, captains, hosts, and kitchen staff moving into position before the rush. There was something interesting about watching that opening choreography unfold. It immediately set the tone for the experience and gave us an appreciation for the level of coordination behind the service. Our waiter was spot on with the recommendations. The menu can be a little intimidating if it's your first time, but his suggestions helped us navigate it without overthinking every decision. The food was beautifully presented, well portioned, and full of balanced flavors. Nothing felt excessive or heavy; each dish seemed designed to let the ingredients do the talking. The ceviche was the best! Ordered the Black Orchid Tea, and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the evening. As a tea lover, there's always that quiet, personal moment when a drink arrives at the table and, just from the presentation, you know it's going to be good. The flavor was subtle and refined, one of those drinks that doesn't try to impress you immediately but is there. This is a special occasion kind of place, but for celebrating an important milestone, it felt worth it. Good food, attentive service, and an atmosphere that makes the evening feel like an event rather than just another dinner.
