- SASrilalitha Appala3 days ago4.0I was on a trip to San diego with family and decided to have dinner at Buca de beppo in Mira mesa. We used to go to one in Illinois that was closed a few years back. When we went in the lady in the counter said that the wait time is 45mts without reservation. We came out, I made a reservation for 15mts later and were seated on timel. The person serving us was Mark, he was friendly, polite and attentive. we were 3 members and would have loved to order different items. However the portion size was for 3-4 people and not for a single person. we ordered garlic bread and baked zitii. I have absolutely no complaint about food except about portion size. if anyone is listening, please add individual portion size for food on the menu.

Even though it was just my wife and I this time, he made us feel so welcomed and taken care of the entire night. He’s easily one of the fastest and most attentive servers we’ve ever had. The chicken marsala was full of flavor, and the shrimp fra diavolo with extra rosa sauce on the side was incredible. To top it all off, the tiramisu was the perfect ending to the meal. We also left with plenty of leftovers for the next few days, which honestly makes the experience even better. Rudy always makes us look forward to coming back.

The salad was capable, nothing unusual. The bread was barely toasted, and barely seasoned. The lasagna was an enormous chunk of bland. I would like to recommend salt, pepper, and herbs. These things are our friends. We dared to have "Italian Cream Cake" afterwards. Please Google Italian Cream Cake...I will wait. Thanks...what we got was a vaguely lemony layer cake with a berry coulis and whipped cream, obviously not Italian Cream Cake. When I asked about this, the server told us that "well, we aren't really Italian". I'm not sure why people eat in these bohemoth restaurants from the 80s/90s... If you actually enjoy food, I wouldn't. If you enjoy bland food, and lots of it, this might be your place.
