Cute seating area, order from the bar and they bring your food. The variety platter was pretty good as well as the brisket sandwich. We didn’t love the brisket burger as much as we wanted to. Their sauce was really good, as well as the fries and onion rings. Service was great. Not the best BBQ I’ve had, but not bad.

FREE FOOD FOR LOW LIFE THIEVES!
Ordered food on DoorDash from these guys, the driver then stole our food and never delivered it, I called them and one worker wanted to help but the manager said pretty much it wasn’t their problem and brushed me off. They didn’t want to rectify the situation and did not care at all. How the heck does someone just walk in they hand them the order and say it’s no longer their problem?
50$ for food and they don’t give two cruds. I’ll never eat at this over priced scummy restaurant again. This is what I get for ordering Texas bbq from some stuck up disrespectful Californians.

That is always the best kind of surprise when it comes to barbecue! Finding a spot that really nails authentic Texas-style brisket—especially outside of Texas—is a major win. Especially after a great San Diego Airshow!
The rice is delish too… YUMMMY!
We went here for the 1st time tonight and had pretty good expectations according to the reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was less than desirable. The brisket was good, the Caesar was soaked in dressing, the wings were salty and not very warm, the macaroni was not like anything I have had before but not in a great way. The beans were good. The chicken and ribs we didn’t even eat because the bites we had were just not great. Counter service was friendly enough. It was $150.00 of food that we had hoped to enjoy in honor of my late son’s birthday since he loved bbq. Maybe we just came on an off night, but probably won’t be back. Restaurant was clean.

The atmosphere was definitely "country" (rustic decor, blaring country music, the air was filled with the aroma of cooked meats).
I would sum up the entire visit with one word:
SEASONING!
The brisket, although cooked well, was lacking in FLAVOR. It needed SALT, PEPPER/GARLIC seasoning.
The onion rings - also cooked very well (crisp, not greasy) but AGAIN, NO FLAVOR!
It needed SOMETHING - SALT, PEPPER/GARLIC, ONION - SOMETHING! They just tasted like unsalted BATTER!
The mac & cheese - very CHEESY/CREAMY, but NOT FLAVORFUL! It needed SALT/PEPPER/GARLIC - SOMETHING!
ABBEY'S - PUT SOME DAMN SALT/FLAVORING IN YOUR FOOD, GUYS! Don't worry about salt content in your food! If people have concerns about sodium content in their food, then they have no business going to a BBQ joint in the first place!
BOTTOM LINE - Abbey's has a lot of potential to be really good, but their food is just TOO BLAND! I KNOW real Texas BBQ doesn't/shouldn't skimp on FLAVOR.
