  I had a very disappointing experience at the Safeway on Constitution Boulevard in Salinas. I went in to check out and saw that one of the lanes appeared to be closed because the cashier had his light off. I asked the employee if he was open and willing to help me check out, and he told me no. I then went to another lane where Alma was working and her lane was open, so I got in line there. While I was waiting in Alma’s line, the same employee with glasses who had told me he was not open suddenly started accepting other customers in his lane. I understand that employees may have reasons for opening or closing a lane, but the way this was handled felt very disrespectful and frustrating as a customer. If a lane isn’t open, that’s fine—but customers shouldn’t be told no and then see the same lane start accepting customers moments later. And this was at date and time 08/14/26 22:24 I hope management addresses situations like this and makes sure customers are treated consistently and respectfully.

  I want to recognize Ivan from the bakery for providing such wonderful customer service I hope I got his name right . I was there two days ago, and he was very kind, polite, patient, and helpful. Unlike previous experiences, I never felt rushed while he helped me. Today, I returned to place an order for a cake, and Ivan was again helping me with my order. While he was assisting me, the assistant manager, Brian, came over and spoke to him. I didn’t hear everything that was said, but I clearly heard Brian ask Ivan if he was working tomorrow. When Ivan said yes, Brian responded loudly, “Tomorrow, when I ask you, you better know the right answer.” As a customer, I found that interaction very uncomfortable and unprofessional. It appeared to me that Ivan was being reprimanded or embarrassed in front of a customer, and I honestly felt bad for him. If there was an issue that needed to be addressed, I believe it should have been handled privately and respectfully. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Employees deserve to be treated with respect, just as customers do. Ivan was doing a great job helping me, and I truly appreciate the kindness and excellent customer service he provided. The five star ⭐️ is for the young man in the bakery and zero star for that assistant manager.

  Beware of this Safeway on Construction in Salinas. This location in the night does not keep it store hours and closes early by a hour to two hours before there posted schedule time at 2am several times a month. This Safeway stops taking cash at 12am and today on 7/22/26 at 11:48 pm when I went to pay with cash I was denied service of purchase because your cashier wanted to clock out and leave right at 12am instead of ringing up his last customer before 12am . I say this because this cashier walked outside right past me at 12:02 am laughing at me because because he denied my service for purchase in the store and Rudley told me don’t get hit by a car , refuting that I’m homeless , when I’m Safeway neighbor that owns my home. I believe he was mad because i said I was going to make a complaint because this store makes up it hours to close early and deny cash purchases to there convenience. I have been shopping here since 2001 and have personally witnessed customer service decline, there was a time the bag boy always walked all senior citizens and women groceries to there car and helped unload them. The only people giving good customer service are the women that work there . You’re same employee I complained about is now harassing me and discriminating me and and know retaliating against me and denying me services of purchase in your store today on 8/2 /2026 , I tried leaving a detailed message on contact us Safeway , it doesn’t let me upload my com it doesn’t work
