Passed by and said "we need to go there." This became "why have I've not been here earlier!" I had the Udon. The broth was incredible, along the noodles and ribeye. They also carry beer from a craft brewery in West Sacramento specializing in Japanese beer. The dark larger complemented the Udon. Definitely, this place is in the rotation.
ridiculously overpriced for the food you get. They automatically charge a 20% tip which is outrageous, especially when everything is overpriced. was super underwhelmed with how everything tasted and the dishes were not consistent. Ordered seconds of certain items and they came out completely different from the first order. portions are also very small. It was a busy night but we had to practically wave down our waiter to order more drinks and more food. definitely would not have tipped 20% if we had a choice.

Japanese restaurant specializing in sumiyaki (charcoal grilling) and izakaya (small plates and drinks.
We ordered the krispy rice and tsuna mayo onigiri as appetizers and then the following skewers: negima (chicken thigh), tsukune (ground chicken), nonkatsu (chicken cartilage), pork belly, salmon, oyster, mochi bacon, eggplant, sweet potato, ninniku (garlic), kamo negi (duck breast), yaki-onigiri (rice ball), and age cheezu (tofu stuffed with mozzarella).
Everything was delicious, our absolute favorites were the mochi bacon and yaki-onigiri (rice ball). Mochi bacon was so unique, delicious crispy bacon wrapped around chewy fresh mochi. Yaki-onigiri was crispy on outside and soft inside with an amazing smokey, charcoal taste.
Vibe is authentic and traditional. We sat at the counter, it was so fun to watch them grilling the various meats. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night, but the customer service was great and food delivery was relatively quick.
Why use a to go order system that is wrong with timing. Every time it says a time to pickup and its NEVER READY. Service is terrible. Girl rather count tips then get orders out. Won't be back.
The food was exceptional. Each dish that arrived brought new excitement and though I wanted to take pictures I kept forgetting. The balance between savory and sweet was inherent in many dishes. I loved bacon and mochi. Peach wrapped up in thin slices of beef was a must order. There were many must order dishes though. It was like eating Japanese tapas: grilled, fried and fermented. Tips are built in 20%. Waiters are needed for recommendations if you have never been there. Enjoy and delight in your senses!
