I was just there. Beef selection was nonexistent. Went specifically for the top sirloin value pak. There was one package of tiny steaks. No other premium steaks to chose from. Very disappointing.

Bought a $55 piece of meat from here, and more than 50% of it was fat by weight. The fat side was down on the packaging so you couldn’t tell until you got it home. I requested a refund and was denied by the store manager. To me, something like this should be considered fraudulent. It was an online order, and on the product website it explicitly says that there is a moneyback guarantee for satisfaction, and they still denied it. I’ll be going through my credit card to get that $55 refunded since apparently you cannot count on the store to honor their satisfaction guarantee. Definitely disappointed because I’ve been shopping here for years.

We shop regularly at Safeway. A lot of fresh, organic, and local products. They have compostable bags (sometimes they rip easily, but it isn’t really a problem). Workers are nice and bag your things for you. If you can’t find something, there are many workers around. The bakery there is good for birthday cakes, we have gotten many cakes from there. Abundance of organic and/or healthy products. Good selection of organic frozen vegetables. They have a pharmacy as well as Quest Lab (they also have a Starbucks). Their self checkout works pretty well. Overall good shopping experience. Five out of five stars.

Lillian and Dylan were my cashier/bagger. They were more interested in talking about other workers wages/complaining about their own and talking about one of their managers, than acknowledging their customers. Dylan also took the opportunity to check his phone while I was getting rung up. Overall it was pretty unprofessional but they seemed young so it's probably their first time having a job. Just wasn't a good customer service impression. UPDATE: Went back since this is the closest Safeway to us and had a very unpleasant experience in self checkout. The lady monitoring the self checkout approached us immediately as soon as we set our stuff down and was asking us to rate her a 10 for being a “good cashier” “don’t leave 0 just skip or give me 10”. She was very persistent and it was odd. That’s fine whatever. There was obviously a language barrier and knowing how survey systems work at my own store she’s probably been coached to encourage 10s which is normal. I just hit the skip button. What WASN’T okay was how she handled our issue with our coupon redemption. My boyfriend and I had been given a 20% off groceries coupon to use from the pharmacy that wouldn’t scan. She came over and told us it wasn’t valid and that it was redeemable the next day. THE COUPON SAID VALID JULY 7/18. I checked my phone and it was in fact the 18th. I pointed this out to her. She insisted that it started tomorrow. At this point I’m annoyed because coupons should be valid on the days they say their valid and this sounds more like an IT/register issue than an I don’t know how to read issue. She was pretty rude about it and when she could see we were annoyed she finally said “okay I can give you $3 off how about that?” $3 off a $70 grocery bill? gee thanks lady. She could tell I wasn’t satisfied so finally she said “okay let me call a manager for you and see if we can do it for you just for today” manager came over. Associate told her we were trying to use a non valid coupon (not true) and the manager approved it and walked away. Never acknowledged us or apologized for the inconvenience. Didn’t even look at the coupon. Finally the associate gave us the 20% off. After we left I asked my boyfriend if I was crazy for being pissed and he said he felt the same way. She was older, dark roots but trying to be blond for hair and barely spoke English. As a manager at my own store I have to help with coupon issues all the time. If a coupon says it’s valid but isn’t ringing, you apologize and honor the discount. Not insult the customer. I don’t know what position the lady we dealt with held but she shouldn’t be a leadership position in the store and the manager she called over should have been more proactive in the experience of her store and registers.
