The best bone-in chicken there is. Plus, the 2 and 3 piece combo were a couple bucks cheaper here than the last one I went to down south. Will return
I went here when it first opened, then went back after seeing all the bad reviews because I wanted to see whether it was really as terrible as people claimed. It wasn’t. The food was fresh, flavorful, and excellent.
I think some people have forgotten what real ingredients taste like when they aren’t drenched in grease, chemicals, and artificial seasoning. Everyone keeps complaining about the cleanliness of the place, yet some of those same people will walk right past their own cars while dropping wrappers and cups in the parking lot for someone else to clean up. Customers should take a little responsibility too.
If you’re someone who doesn’t DoorDash your popcorn and drinks because carrying them from the movie theater concession stand to your seat is simply too much work, then El Pollo Loco might be the fast food you’ve been looking for.
For everyone else, enjoy your Frito-Lay-dusted, mystery-oil-bathed Taco Supreme Diablo from Taco Bell—or whichever drive-thru hell hole you worship.

I went to El Pollo Loco on Churn Creek Road in Redding, Ca. I ordered 2 grilled chicken crunchy tacos. They told me they dont have any crunchy taco shells. They said they could make one in few minutes. So that was fine. When I got it, I bit into it and about burned my tongue off it was so hot! I eventually ate one of the two I got. Did not taste the greatest. My son didnt care for his burrito either. THEN I got home and started to eat the 2nd taco. Took couple bites, felt something hard in my mouth. It was a chicken bone!!!! I almost choked on it! Im never going there again!!

Manager Jessica is really doing her best! The new opening has definitely been chaotic. Hopefully this location settles to be more like the ones down south.
I decided to try this place out because I’ve heard it was pretty good. I ordered in the drive thru, and was immediately thrown off by the AI robot taking my order. It talked so fast that I was having a difficult time understanding what it was saying, but eventually, I figured it out. To add, don’t use AI. It’s bad for the environment and is contributing to the rise of anti-intellectualism, as well as taking away jobs. I’d much rather purchase a meal where a real person takes my order, or a kiosk is available. I didn’t go inside so I’m unaware of any kiosks.
The wait time wasn’t terrible, and the service was good. But….tell me why I get home and the chicken looked like it’d been on Ozempic? What do you mean they gave me three piddly pieces of chicken? One looked like a miniature model of Count Orlok’s thigh. The chicken was dry and tasted like the baked chicken in the Safeway deli if they’d added one less grain of salt.
Onto the Spanish rice. Y’all…….it tasted like overcooked Rice-A-Roni. I was chewing it like Jim Carrey in Me, Myself, and Irene when his character got cotton mouth from his pills.
…..the macaroni and cheese. I love macaroni and cheese. Sky Daddy preserve me, I do 🧎♀️ BUT it was basically the exact macaroni and cheese from the Safeway deli! I just know they slopped it out of a clear plastic bag just by the texture of the pasta. Now, I understand many places do this, but this was actually insulting for the price that I paid for my food.
Anyway, stay funky fresh.
0/10 to the crazy chicken.
