In 2011 I started what is now LEVO wine. After receiving a heaping pile of rejection letters from all CA University’s offering enology and viticulture, I decided it time to wave goodbye to academia and create my own path in the wine world. Soon I ended up in Portugal’s Douro Valley, with a pair of boots & journal- I realized pretty quickly I didn’t need much else except good fruit, barrels & some siphoning tubes to make soulful wines. Since then I’ve stuck to these primitive winemaking ideas. I’ve kept my head down, pushing away the tantalizing voice of compromise and overused ideas of tradition.
I craft these wines in Tin City, Paso Robles. We concentrate on buying the best fruit possible, mainly focusing on Ballard Canyon & surrounding Rhone vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley, Edna Valley, and West Side Paso Robles.
Levo wine is a different type of winery, they are small, the owner is always around, and the wines are made organically (they are working to officially be labeled as an organic winery). When we lasted visited to pickup our wines in April (we are part of their wine club), we had some bright, earthy, and full wines. Amazing winery to visit but make your resy because they are always full.

Also do not miss Stellar & Sun hats - in Levo! Sabreena is a master milliner, a true artist, an absolute joy to work with, and her hats are amazing beyond words!

Levo Wine in Tin City is an absolute gem. We stopped in shortly before closing with our son, and the hospitality couldn’t have been better. They were incredibly welcoming and made us feel like family, even though it was only our second tasting room visit ever.
Bret, the winemaker, is a great guy. We instantly connected over his ties to Eagle, Idaho (where my parents live), which made the experience even more special. Huge shoutout to Lexi as well. She was an awesome host on both visits and was extremely friendly and accommodating.
Bret’s wines were outstanding across the board. We especially loved the 2024 El Paso de Robles White, the 2021 Fasten Your Seatbelt Syrah (absolutely incredible), and the 2022 Willow Creek District red blend. Thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully made.
The space is clean, modern, and vibrant, and their creative marketing really stands out across social, their website, merch, and overall brand presence. We enjoyed it so much that we joined the wine club on the spot and are excited to have Levo in our regular rotation as we move from SLO to Atascadero.
Highly recommend! Fantastic wine, great people, and a 10/10 experience.
