While the self-checkout is available, the employees on duty appear to be on break, standing around and talking to one another rather than opening cash registers to assist customers with large amounts of groceries. I experienced the same issue during an afternoon visit, where only one cashier lane and the self-checkout were open. During my last visit, I decided to use the scanning gun at the self-checkout. An employee informed me that customers are not allowed to use the hand scanner unless the items are too large to lift from the cart, insisting I only use the table scanner. As a customer, I found this policy and the employee's approach highly frustrating, especially given the lack of open register lanes. I plan to avoid shopping at this location in the future.

Came back, and the same guy working the area told me here's my chicken. I explicitly asked if I need anything to prove it was paid for, he said just show the online receipt. So we went up, showed the online receipt, and was told we have to go back to get the chicken that was ours (like that made a difference), that we did it the wrong way. NO, you guys told me it was good, so YOU did it the wrong way. The rational thing would have been for you guys to just look at the receipt and let us go, but no.... You make us wait. I have worked in retail. If you're wrong you tell the customer, you don't drag it out. He gives me the chicken, finally.... And then my cart seizes up at the door leaving a bruise on my shin. I never get mad at retail workers, but usually they apologize or they don't delay the given. I really don't want anything for you guys. I will never shop at vons, and while that might not make a difference to the average worker there, I will bad mouth this behavior to everyone. Learn and apologize immediately, it's a real poor sign of character for several workers to fail at that (forgivable for one). It's 20 dollars of chicken,... Have some character!
