- OMOscar MSep 22, 20265.0Divine in every sense of the word. The first time I dined here was August 8, 2020, and what stayed with me all these years was the French onion soup. Six years later, I found myself back for a second visit, and I’m delighted to report that the French onion soup is still the star of the show. We started with a French baguette. The bread was soft, moist, and simply perfect. We then split a Caesar salad, holding the anchovies, which was rich and flavorful. Then came the grande madame herself: the French onion soup. Just as good as I remembered it. Delicious, deeply savory, and comforting. There was something especially satisfying about enjoying a piping hot onion broth on the first day of fall, surrounded by the lingering warmth of Palm Springs. We finished with the steak frites, perfectly portioned to split between two. And, of course, cocktails for the evening. I had the French martini, which was quite sweet, so I would probably only have one, but it is absolutely worth trying as a pre dinner drink. The service was wonderful, caring, and attentive throughout the evening. The owner was present and incredibly thoughtful with every interaction, which added such a personal touch to the experience. It felt like a lovely little pocket of France tucked into the warm desert of Palm Springs. Six years later, it was a pleasure to return and find that the dish I remembered most was every bit as wonderful as I remembered.

The food is excellent, with classic French dishes prepare and served with hospitality. It's easy to understand why this has become such a beloved local favorite. Because of its popularity, the dining room is intimate, lively, and often quite busy. Reservations are recommended. Service follows a more traditional European pace—relaxed and unhurried—which fits the experience but may feel slower if you're expecting a quick meal. If you enjoy lingering over great food in a bustling, authentic setting, Pomme Frite offers one of the finest French dining experiences in the area. It's a restaurant I would happily return to.
