  Customer service is closed… because they don’t have enough staff… How do you not have enough staff to operate your customer service desk?

  Manager Mandy, I have been shopping at this Albertsons for over 15 years, since I was a little girl coming here with my dad, to now bringing my husband and our children. Throughout that time, I've always had positive experiences with management and staff, which is why this recent interaction was disappointing. My family was 24 cents short during checkout so we asked to remove a bag of chips. The employees seemed unsure how to process since we already paid most of all of it, saying it was frozen, so I politely asked if anyone happened to have a spare quarter available. Instead of receiving the friendly customer service I've always associated with this store, the manager became unnecessarily rude and confrontational. After misunderstanding a comment I made to my husband, she spoke to me disrespectfully, and then apologized to her coworker and said she wasn’t talking to her, and that she was just having a bad day. Once they decided to get a quarter, the manager came out of the office and shouted “did it work?” I said yes and thanked her, which was followed by her ignoring me. I then said “I hope your day gets better,” which lead her to saying “it will. That’s why I ignored you little girl.” As a longtime customer, wife, and mother, this behavior was unprofessional and completely inappropriate. What upset me most is that this store has always felt welcoming. This woman has engaged with my son before in the past, how gross to think once your child isn’t around you’re thought of as a little girl and disrespected. One negative interaction does not erase 15 years of positive experiences, especially because manager Yessica has done so much for me and my family over the years since she’s watched me grow up, but management should be aware when an employee in leadership treats customers in a manner that reflects horribly on the store. I sincerely hope Albertsons addresses this issue and maintains the friendly atmosphere that has kept my family shopping here for so many years.
