About

Mexican RestaurantCatererChicken RestaurantFast Food Restaurant
While some things have changed over the last few decades, El Pollo Loco's delivery of fresh, authentic food has not. Everything starts with whole chickens that are slowly marinated in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The chicken is then expertly fire-grilled to perfection the authentic way - on our signature open-flame grills - then hand cut into your favorite Mexican entrees. We put that same dedication and care into our handmade guacamole, salsas and dressings every day. At El Pollo Loco in Oxnard,CA, we believe that when real food meets real fire the result is great taste that will keep you coming back again and again.

I have been coming to this location for years. Always fresh, always good customer service. The manager here has always been on top of it!

The first couple times it was so fricking fresh and tasty. But recently it’s been stale and not tasty.

If you visit this location, be aware of how you may be treated for something as simple as ordering salsas. It also raises the question of who is hiring and training employees at this location and what standards are being followed. I am a frequent customer and use the rewards system, which reflects that I regularly spend money here. I paid for my order, including extras like sour cream and queso, so this is not about cost. There are also times I purchase without using the app. While I was waiting, a male employee loudly said that I “ordered more salsas than food,” clearly within hearing distance. Another employee even told him to stop because I could hear him, which shows they knew it was inappropriate. When I addressed it, his tone felt dismissive and mocking, especially when he emphasized that the salsas were “free,” as if I was asking for something unreasonable. Other employees attempted to intervene, but the situation was not handled professionally. There was no acknowledgment of the original comment, and instead I was told that my reaction was “disrespectful.” I addressed the employee directly to make it clear that I was placing an order that I paid for. Customers should not feel judged for ordering items that are offered. I have my own business and create content on social media. I mention this only to make it clear that I can pay for anything I order. I have also experienced missing items in previous orders, both paid items and included items, which raises further concern after this experience. If certain items are offered, customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable for requesting them. If there are concerns about portions or cost, they should be addressed through pricing or policy — not through comments toward customers. If adjustments are needed, they should be handled at a management level, not by employees making remarks about customer orders. This experience helps explain the ongoing negative reviews at this location. Customers should not feel judged or uncomfortable for placing an order. This could have been easily avoided with basic professionalism. I previously tried to address concerns constructively by leaving a positive review, hoping to encourage improvement without escalating the issue. However, this experience helps explain the pattern I have noticed with missing items, including salsas and other items that should be included. The situation was not handled properly, and there was no clear attempt to de-escalate or acknowledge the original comment. The remark made by the employee came across as unnecessary and passive-aggressive.

This place constantly serves old, dry and over cooked chicken breast. It’s happened 9/10 of the last times we’ve ordered chicken breast here. Their rice isn’t traditional, their beans aren’t great either, their salsa also needs a lot of work.
