Beautiful views, but a terrible happy hour value.
While the ocean view from The Rooftop Bar is nice, their happy hour is a complete disappointment. The drinks are heavily overpriced for the quality provided. The food options on the happy hour menu are practically missing, and the portion sizes are microscopic. They rely strictly on their location to attract people instead of putting effort into providing a high quality happy hour menu. There are much better, higher-quality happy hour experiences elsewhere in Oceanside.
There was no uniformity behind the bar. Regular Street clothed employees were behind the bar doing odd bar work. Even the bar help should be dressed appropriately and uniformly. And then to top it all off if you do go here expect to receive an unknown service charge on your bill. Personally I would not have tipped so much if they were charging a vague service fee

This place is great for a cocktail and small bites. We had martinis and finger finger food with a table right by the window with a view of the pier and the water and it was just lovely and perfect

Worst service I’ve had here in years. Chilled seafood appetizers and 3 cocktails took 45 minutes to get to the table as all the waitstaff ignored the situation to socialize with each other. Waitress had an enormous attitude when I wasn’t more grateful for the slow service and asked for the check. This property has been going downhill for awhile but this will absolutely be the last time returning until I forget how bad this trip was!

It's about the scene even at 7 pm. It's a lovely space but oddly the design limits views of sunset. Sort of a nod to SkyBar way back in Hollywood but not as well done. The bar in the back is dark and a beautiful space. The drinks could use balance. They're honest about the bites menu and being a bar, not a restaurant. Don't expect a meal. Can't recommend any particular food but the mushrooms were decent. The tables are too small for a meal. You can't pull up to the table to eat and the chairs are deep. It all says feel cool because you were here. And yet even if you just want a drink, the choice of furniture and the ambient noise mean you are leaning forward or talking loudly to have a chat. Service was super fast then slow. That said, no one rushed a table next to us even though they had clearly finished their tab and were having a long chat from before we were seated. That's a good thing.

While the customer service here definitely needs serious improvement, the real issue is the flat-out greed and corruption.
They sneakily add a 6% surcharge to your bill and try to blame it on minimum wage increases. It’s a total scam.
The owner of this property is a literal billionaire, and the place is managed by Hyatt a multi-billion dollar corporation. Yet, they are still blaming regular workers getting a living wage just to justify price-gouging their customers.
Worst of all? That 6% fee doesn't even go to the staff.
It is pure corporate corruption: pocketing extra profit under the fake excuse of "labor costs" while the actual workers don't see a dime of it.
They are using politics to trick customers and line the pockets of the ultra-rich. Don't give this exploitative place a single penny.
Avoid.
