Having lived around the corner for years, I am convinced this place is part of some experiment by Albertsons corporate to see how many employees they can cut before the cost savings are outweighed by the loss in revenue as customers shop elsewhere. Does not matter if it’s 10 am on Saturday, 2pm on Wednesday, or heaven forbid after 5 on a weekday, this place will have no more than 2 registers open and you WILL wait 15-25 minutes to check out. Oh and if you decide you don’t want to wait in the inevitable line you will find all exits blocked by gates, barriers, and other “loss prevention” contraptions, forcing you to awkwardly shuffle through the line of disgruntled people trying to check out OR to attempt some gymnastics maneuver just to flee. The employees do their best but this place is just set up for utter failure from a customer experience standpoint. Truly the most cursed grocery store I have ever set foot in. 0 stars.

Very long lines, no self checkout. I avoid shopping here because it always takes forever to check out

Pam is extremely rude, unprofessional and shouldn't be in customer service. Disrespectful, impatient and embarrassing. Especially untactful when it is a mom with a baby in a stroller and a second child you're arguing with for simply not knowing if you were addressing me or another person waiting by customer service. The other person was a distance from the customer service stand, over against the checkstand, I thought she was waiting on something else, like a cashier. I was not trying to cut. I thought she was asking what I needed help with, I just wanted to buy a lotto ticket. I said I didn't know the lady in the power chair was waiting on her too. She threw a fit and refused me service, refused me her name to contact management, but I will be emailing. My parents both worked for this company for decades, and I used to do overnights for the region. I will be contacting corporate because this is not how to talk to your guests. If you don't like the community or customers you serve and can't treat people with basic decency, don't do a job you clearly are not suited for just to abuse the public. I have a feeling she thinks just because she is older she can treat younger customers like garbage. The atm is out of cash today too. The person Pam called to assist didn't come. This place is understaffed, the lines can be very long. Today there was no line to check out but a simple stop for a lotto ticket after shopping was a humiliation ritual instead of a quick transaction. Never seen a clerk so incapable. I hope that power trip and misdirected anger at me made her miserable day better.

Please be aware don't buy any kind of gift card at Safeway 5100 Broadway, you paid the amount that you want to put on your gift card at the cashier but when you need to use it the card has zero dollars, many of those gifts cards does not have funds even if you use it the next day or 15 days later, what ever the reason was, you as a customer are the one who is getting hurt at the end, I brought my bad experience to Safeway management and they didn't even listen to me.totally scam...

Hours are listed as open until 2:00 am. Tried to walk in the door at 1:50 am and was told by security that they close at 1:50 am every night. Any and every other store that lists their hours as being until a certain time allows customers entry into their establishment until that time. I'm tired of Safeway (multiple locations) considering themselves to the exceptions to that rule.
