  Michael B. When above and beyond to help find a product for me he needs 5% raise. He even called the different stores in the surrounding area to help me find my product.......A God send 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Also the freezer man Tobias now don't call me that might not be his name the man who works in the freezer with the beard lol

  I am reporting and documenting an incident of severe racial profiling and discrimination that I experienced at the Safeway location on 2096 Mountain Blvd. in Oakland, California, on Saturday, June 30th around 6:00pm. I am a Black 69-year old female and Safeway is my neighborhood store, I am a regular shopper at Safeway. On the aforementioned date, I was shopping at Safeway, while going about my business, I was subjected to discriminatory treatment by a Safeway customer (see attached photos), who targeted me strictly because of my race. Specifically, the following occurred: • I was placing my items in my Trader Joe’s shopping bags when I noticed a customer started following me around the store. • The customer blurted out “I’m watching you, don’t walk out that door, I see it all the time and I will stop you.” • He was pushing a shopping cart with several items and I guess since I did not have a shopping cart and was placing my items in my Trader Joe’s shopping bags he accused me of shoplifting. • I asked him to repeat what he said and he repeated it verbatim. • The customer continued to taunt me and I walked to the front of the store and summoned the Security Guard. • We located the customer in the vegetable aisle of the store and the Security Guard did absolutely nothing. • I demanded someone call the Store Manager. • I demanded the Store Manager to escort the customer out of the store and he said he could not do that. • The Store Manager allowed the racist customer in the checkout line and the racist customer gave me the finger (see photo) in front of the Safeway employees & customers. • In my attempt to take a photo of the racist customer, he blocked his face with his hand & a box of cereal, Safeway employees did absolutely nothing. • I was livid. I was shocked that Safeway Store Manager & Security Guard did absolutely nothing. I thought Safeway’s official policy was commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and treating everyone with courtesy, dignity, and respect and rid the store of racist customers. However, the actions of the in store customer on May 30th violated my civil rights and created a hostile, humiliating environment

  I’ve been a Safeway FreshPass and VIP member for quite a while, and it has absolutely been worth it. According to my account, I’ve saved over $1,400 and more than 130 hours through the program. I love knowing I can find quality products, great deals, and convenient services all in one place. The stores are clean, well stocked, and I appreciate having access to a restroom when I’m out running errands. Safeway has made grocery shopping easier for my family, and the savings have really added up over time. Highly recommended!
