- EGEmily Gorin3 days ago2.0I’ve been shopping here for years even though it's small and has less selection because this store always had such friendly, pleasant employees (cashiers Erica & Jin, African American butcher, Eric the bagger) and felt more personal than the bigger stores. Lately, though, the atmosphere feels noticeably different. Several employees seem unhappy or disengaged. The deli department in particular has become frustrating. There is one deli employee, an African American young woman with long hair and fake eyelashes who has NEVER been nice, but yesterday was egregious even for her. I asked for some turkey to be sliced, and she refused (!), saying they were not slicing meat because only two people were working. The store was not busy at all. No one else was in line for the deli. I shop here regularly and that staffing level seems fairly typical, so this came across less like an actual policy and more like she just didn’t want to work, and it was too much trouble for her. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated interaction — this particular employee is consistently curt, unhelpful, and acts inconvenienced by routine customer requests. I’m reconsidering where I do my regular shopping. Yesterday in the deli was the last straw.
