K-FRIED CHICKEN [DAKGANGJEONG]
Korean Dakgangjeong is a crispy, double-fried Korean fried chicken coated in a sweet, spicy, and sticky sauce made with soy sauce, garlic, and Korean chili paste (gochujang). Served with soft, chewy Korean rice cakes (tteok), this boneless, bite-sized dish is known for its crunchy outside and juicy inside.
Soondae is a popular Korean street food made with glass noodles and a special blend of ingredients, all stuffed into a natural casing and steamed to perfection. It's savory, chewy, and often enjoyed with a dipping salt or spicy sauce.
Odeng Tang, or Korean fish cake soup, is a comforting dish made with skewered fish cakes served in a savory, light broth, often garnished with green onions and a hint of soy sauce.
This gimbap is a Korean rice roll made with Spam, pickled radish, seasoned spinach, sautéed carrots, and fish cake, all wrapped in seaweed with rice. It’s savory, slightly sweet, and full of flavor in every bite!
A rice bowl is a dish served with steamed rice as the base, topped with various ingredients such as vegetables, and sauces, creating a flavorful and customizable meal.
Korean-style fried rice cakes are made by deep-frying fresh garaetteok (cylindrical rice cakes) until they are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, often served as a savory or sweet snack.
Korean-style vegetable fritters are made by coating a mix of fresh vegetables, such as onions, carrots, and sweet potatoes, in a light batter and deep-frying them until golden and crispy.
Fresh squid tempura is made by coating raw squid in a light batter and deep-frying it to achieve a crispy texture while keeping the squid tender inside, making it a flavorful appetizer or side dish.
Korean-style sweet potato fries are made by slicing fresh sweet potatoes, coating them lightly in batter, and deep-frying them to create a crispy outside and a naturally sweet, tender inside.
Never really had Korean food or rice cake but then I tried out Halgattoek in Northridge. Food was amazing tried the Grandma Tteokbokki and the Chicken Gangjeong (Korean Soy Garlic) with a side of Gimmari and Rice Ball. Not only was the food amazing but the service was outstanding too. Very friendly staff, Janelle was amazing, checked in with us to see how we were and if we needed anything. Will be coming back for more!

I was very excited to try Halgatteok in Northridge for the first time, but unfortunately, it turned into one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had.
The woman at the front counter was very kind. She looked up my order, retrieved the bag from behind the protective counter shield, took my payment, added extra pickled radish when I asked, placed chopsticks and the gimbap I ordered into the bag, and personally handed the order to me. She asked whether I wanted a receipt, but I declined because there was already one attached to the bag.
After driving more than 20 miles home, I opened the food and discovered that the rice cakes were completely missing from the tteokbokki. I called the restaurant, and the employee apologized and asked me to send photos and videos of everything I had received so she could show her manager. I sent everything they requested.
While looking through the order more carefully, I noticed something even stranger: the receipt attached to my bag was not my order, nor did not match the food inside it. The receipt did not include gimbap, even though the gimbap I ordered had been placed in the bag. It appeared that there had been multiple mix-ups with the order.
When the employee called me back, the conversation took a surprising turn. She told me that the employee who had handed me the order thought I might have taken the wrong bag from the counter myself. That did not happen. I never selected or picked up a bag on my own. The employee verified my name, took my payment, added the pickled radish, chopsticks, and gimbap to the bag, and then handed it directly to me.
I was then told, “Just so you know, we do have video footage that we can review.” I found this comment very uncomfortable. Rather than simply acknowledging that an order mix-up may have occurred, the response made me feel as though my account of what happened was being questioned. I was only trying to resolve the issue after driving more than 20 miles home and discovering that I had received the wrong food.
After several other frustrating phone calls, the restaurant refunded my order and apologized for the mistake, which I genuinely appreciated. However, I believe the situation could have been handled much more professionally from the beginning. A straightforward acknowledgment of the mix-up and an apology would have gone a long way. Instead, I was initially made to feel as though I had done something wrong, turning what should have been a simple order mistake into an unnecessarily frustrating experience.

This is literally my go-to Tteokbokki place because being able to choose your toppings makes the experience even better. I highly recommend trying out Rose Tteokbokki with level 1 spice and adding cheese! I usually put down sausage, cabbage, tofu skins and fish cakes with noodles but that's my preference. They give huge portions for you to take home!
