I don’t know what happened to its rating.
I really did not have any bad experiences. I was just so enjoying strolling around this mall and found the wrong entrance of the restaurant. But actually it still works if you are not entering out of business hour of furniture side.
The main entrance of the restaurant in on the parking side and RH actually has 4 floors.
It is grand and artistic. The fountain and olive trees in the restaurant left a deep impression in my head when I first saw this place years ago. I finally came after getting bored of experiencing all the fine dinings in LA and it is one of my greatest decisions in life. lol 😆.
Food was ok. Drinks ok. The fountain ⛲️ in the restaurant is everything (especially dining next to it so you can hear the water patting. A holy saint I am becoming) and the art in each floor was beautiful. The lobby and the Terrance were like a dream. Love it all.
Such a unique vibe! Obsessed.
We had the pleasure of visiting the Rh restoration restaurant in New York and it was fantastic. The one in Newport Beach, however at fashion center, raise the bar significantly. We had a server named Joshua was absolutely outstanding. We were celebrating my daughter‘s transfer from New York to Santa Monica and the service was unlike I’ve ever seen. Arguably I would rank the food, the atmosphere and above all the service the best I’ve ever received. Thanks Joshua for making it special.
As a sidenote, the lobster roll, the steak, and salad is what we ordered.
Beautiful, open and inviting atmosphere at RH Fashion Island. The hostess greeted us warmly with a smile. We were initially seated directly in the sun, which some people might love, but our party runs warm. We politely asked to move and, since other tables were available, they graciously accommodated us. Our new table was perfect.
Our server was polite and attentive. One other staff member who dropped off fresh plates was noticeably rude, which stood out against the otherwise pleasant service. It didn’t ruin our experience, but it’s worth noting.
We started with the oysters, which were fresh and tasty, although quite small with limited variety. I had the lobster roll, which was delicious, tender and flavorful, but not quite enough on its own. Fortunately, I stole some of the truffle fries from my party, and they were excellent: crisp, savory and aromatic.
Our table also ordered the lobster salad with avocado, chicken sandwich with avocado, and chicken salad with avocado, along with a non-alcoholic specialty drink, Diet Coke and Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh and nicely presented.
Overall, RH delivers a beautiful setting, good food and a refined experience. For those with a more affluent dining budget, this could easily be a casual, regular lunch spot. For the average diner, the price point makes it more of a special-occasion lunch or occasional indulgence. You’re paying not only for the food, but also the atmosphere and overall RH experience.
Read the 1 stars reviews, and then you’ll see the patterns. I always try to give places benefit of the doubt. But alas, horrible service, racism they mentioned I thought was a one off incident- turned out real. There was PLENTY of tables inside, we arrived at opening time. And somehow being asians- we escorted to the outside patio, when I asked for indoor seating- the Caucasian older lady ( who should be fired ), she rolled her eyes on us and said I’ll try to find another table ( in an empty restaurant? ). Can’t believe that in this day and age in CA. Food was so poorly plated, literally they put a lobster on plate, no nothing plated, just a plain broiled tiny lobster which also tasted SO mediocre, if you have eaten in true fine dining restaurants before, forget this place. Taste like neighborhood new American restaurants. Then we ordered food specifically saying my son’s allergies, waiter said of course we can do that. Guess what came.
After spending over 500$, we got this (very) sad birthday wish from them- a cookie on plate with a used candle. I’m laughing at this point of how sad this establishment is, given RH is supposedly known for their design and beauty. Stick to furnitures RH, seriously.

I had the worst experience here. Our waiter was extremely rude and never checked on us throughout the meal.
We ordered two burgers with truffle fries, and it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. When the burgers finally came out, the burgers were cold, and the truffle fries didn’t arrive until another 15 minutes later. At no point did our waiter apologize, explain the delay, or even ask if everything was okay.
I had to speak with three different servers just to find out what was happening with our order. We repeatedly asked multiple waiters to send the manager to our table, but no one came. I eventually had to get up and ask for the manager in person.
When the manager finally came over, he was extremely rude and didn’t seem to know how to handle the situation. He simply stood there looking at us instead of apologizing, taking responsibility, or offering a solution. The entire situation could have been handled much more professionally.
Between the poor service, the long wait, the cold food, and the manager’s attitude, our Sunday lunch was completely ruined. I expected much better customer service and professionalism. Unfortunately, both the waiter and the manager made what should have been an enjoyable meal into a very disappointing experience. I will not be returning.
