Nobu Newport Beach, located in the luxurious Lido Marina Village, will serve Nobu Matsuhisa’s world-renowned signature cuisine such as Tiradito, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño and Black Cod Miso with incredible views of the Newport Harbor.
Designed by Studio PCH, Nobu Newport Beach has been crafted with their signature aesthetic of comfort and refined details in mind, to create a simple and elegant atmosphere. Guests will be able to enjoy both indoor and outdoor dining in the two-story space and will have access to the bar & lounge.
Even upstairs quite noisy.
Cheap plastic menus and winw/drink lists need urgent redo. They are gross.

I’ll start with the positive, food was great. We had the wagyu dumplings, truffle ribeye, jalapeno yellowtail, and various nigiri— all top notch.
The not so great, was the service and experience. By service, I actually don’t mean The speed at which the food came out, although that could’ve been better too.
This Newport location seems to be lacking the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of some of the other locations that I’ve been to, as well as the fine dining small touches. What happened to the Japanese welcome they all yelled out when we walked into the LA location?? They don’t do it in Newport I guess..
It started with the host, pointing us to our table, rather than actually walking us there. Small thing, but felt lazy. Next, a person came over and brought water and took our drink order, then when he came back, I had to ask him if he was our server… He said, oh yeah, and then introduced himself. Another small thing, but at a fine dining restaurant, you expect your server to come up and introduce their self by name and let you know they are going to be taking care of you.
Lastly, I had let them know ahead of time that we were celebrating our anniversary. There was no mention of it throughout the evening, and nothing special brought out. A welcome glass of champagne would have been easy for them, it would’ve gone a long way.
In summary, the food was fire, but they need to step their game up regarding the experience or else it just feels like they’re over charging because it’s Nobu, and they can …
I’ll give it another shot, but honestly I could walk to Oto in Laguna Beach, pay half as much, and get treated way better.
I hope the restaurant takes this honest feedback and reminds the staff that they are just as important as the food.

Chris was hands down the best server we could have asked for. He was attentive, friendly, and really knew the menu inside and out. His recommendations were spot on, and he made our entire dining experience seamless and fun. If you come here, definitely ask to be seated in Chris's section—we'll definitely be back because of him!

My husband made reservations for a date night and we had never been to this Nobu location, so we were excited to try. The area was buzzing with lots of activity so we were happy to use the valet. We entered to a dj and loud music on the main level which we've never experienced at a Nobu before. The crowd was young and lots of drinks were being poured at the bar. We were seated pretty quickly in the outside upstairs overlooking the marina. It was a beautiful night and we enjoyed watching the rental boats in the harbor. We are frequent diners at Nobu so we have our menu down, I ordered the piña martini, my husband ordered the margarita. My drink was fabulous, his was way too strong. I had a second since it was so good, my husband did not. We started with the spicy edamame, rock shrimp tempura and salmon sashimi. Our service of rock shrimp tempura was very generous, more than usual. We got the waygu gyoza, delicious and filling and sushi. Our favorite rolls are the baked crab, shrimp tempura and salmon avocado. Our favorite sauce with everything is the KSM sauce. We do wish Nobu would bring back the king crab amazu ponzu but they say the price of the crab has become too expensive. We would pay more we love it so much! We enjoyed our experience very much and will be back!

Nobu Newport Beach is a fantastic dining experience, combining excellent food, beautiful surroundings, and the sophisticated atmosphere you expect from Nobu. The location is stunning, overlooking Newport Harbor, and the modern, elegant design makes it a great choice for a special occasion, business dinner, or simply a memorable night out.
The menu offers an impressive selection of Japanese dishes with Nobu’s signature style. The sushi and sashimi were exceptionally fresh and beautifully presented, and the famous Black Cod with Miso is definitely a must-try—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The Yellowtail Jalapeño is another standout, with a great balance of freshness, citrus, and just the right amount of spice. Everything we ordered was carefully prepared and presented.
Service was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The staff did a great job explaining the dishes and helping with recommendations without making us feel rushed. The atmosphere is lively and upscale, especially during dinner, while the harbor views add something special to the overall experience.
Prices are definitely on the higher side, but that is expected for Nobu and for a restaurant in such a prime Newport Beach location. Overall, it was a wonderful experience with excellent food, great service, and a beautiful setting. I would highly recommend Nobu Newport Beach, especially for a special evening, and I would definitely return.
