Truly, this place could make a damned New Yorker lick the spoon, that Mama Leone is in the back, stirring the gravy.
The Meatballs' Marinara sauce was truly the best I have seen, in Santa Clara County,...
Spread on warm bread, !
Do not let that saaauuuccce . Go to waste.
The Gnocchi, is perfectly cooked, and hearty
Portions on point.
Tableside Balsamic and Olive Oil, is given for the bread, but of course..
The red wine is generous
The owners' smiles are sincere, and equally generous
Ice Cold Water brought, in a glass vase, placed on table, so you do not need to pester re-fills.
Atmosphere is awfully quiet, mellow, unpretentious.
Background music is not loud, but the right tune and tones.
The booths are cozy, clean, tables solid.
The Farfarlle pasta was perfection, the sausage, diced fine, blended into the cream sauce..
Truly, I grew up back East, and was nearly kidnapped by New York Italians, ran their spots for years, full time.
And this place, is now, home, for us all.
Truly, come down, break bread, see what this gemstone of comfort food, is.
Unpretentious Italian. Olde World, not modern nuovo...
This place outshines, without even trying, neighboring Don Giovannis', Frankie, Johnny and Luigis, etc.
The secret is, they have a real, olde world, Italian Chef.
Behind the building, we caught him goofing off, playing Bocce Ball...
Seriously, come feast folks.
Or you will get stuck with more Poke Bowls, and Pretentious, fugahzee
Finally a good Italian spot nearby??
We went on opening night and food came out fast. Good food, friendly service, would come back.
Noodles had good bite. Pesto had tons of delicious basil, veal lasagne was appropriately saucey and had a little of good burnt bits, and vongole had yummy flavor. Would recommend the beet salad, good vinegrette and cheese, and the calamari was supple with dipping sauce that tasted housemade. They had housemade hot sauce as well.
Portion sizes are about on par with or larger than other places, especially the lasagne and pesto were pleasantly large.
We expressed interest in the calamari and they gave us some for free.
The vongole came out with spaghetti instead of linguine, but it wasn't a big deal/any similar issues will be sorted out as they continue serving.
Wishing the best for them!
