I had a very disappointing experience at the Safeway on Dunne today. I was in a rush on my way to a funeral and needed a simple message written on a cake. I was told by the employee Cole Sepúlveda (who deserves a raise by the way he was the ONLY employee willing to help any of us out poor guy and so young someone older should’ve been taking taking care of these situations… either way he let me know that the lady that does the icing is on a six minute break who does the writing on the cake which takes but 2 minutes… and that she had just gone on her break, while I understand employees need breaks she was gone for far longer than over 10 minutes making me late for obligations I had in advance and was on a way to a funeral which frustrated things more. no one else was willing to step in or able to help. The lady’s name who first told us we needed to wait the six minutes was named Tracey Keller and said to wait six minutes and it has been over 15 minutes. I even offered to write the message myself if someone could simply provide the icing, but that request was also denied. Linda Medley another customer simply wanted some sourdough rolls and couldn’t even get hers as well because no staff was actively present. So you lost two customers that day… She asked if there was anyone there to help and there wasn’t and so she let me mention her name in the complaint because this is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that stores have policies, but this felt like a situation where a small act of flexibility and compassion could have made a big difference. Instead, I left feeling frustrated and unsupported during an already difficult day. I hope management considers cross-training more employees to write simple cake messages or empowering staff to find reasonable solutions for customers in time-sensitive situations.

I am a DoorDash delivery driver, and today I had one of the worst experiences I have ever had while picking up an order. When I arrived at the store, I waited patiently for a long time because there was often no employee in the pickup area. While I was waiting, an older female employee, who appeared to be a cashier, loudly and aggressively shouted at me from a distance, telling me to use the phone on the pickup counter. I did exactly as she instructed, but the phone simply rang on the counter where it was sitting. No one answered it. I had no choice but to continue waiting. After waiting even longer, another employee responsible for the pickup orders finally arrived. She appeared to be in her 50s. She did not greet me or speak professionally. Instead, she immediately blamed me for not waiting in the right place, even though I had already been waiting there for a long time. She spoke to me in a very rude and aggressive manner and even threatened to cancel all of my DoorDash orders. She refused to listen when I tried to explain what had happened. I am only a DoorDash driver trying to earn a living. English is not my first language, but I always do my best to be polite and respectful. Instead of receiving help, I felt that all of the employee’s frustration was directed at me. The order had still not been prepared after I had already waited a long time, yet I was the one being blamed. Because of this situation, I had to contact DoorDash Support and also explain the delay to the customer. In total, I lost more than an hour because of this incident. Later, another employee who appeared to be the store manager came over and told me not to touch anything. I had never touched any store property or merchandise, yet I was spoken to in a stern and accusatory manner. I found this very upsetting. This was an extremely humiliating experience. I felt unwelcome and treated differently simply because I was a DoorDash driver and because my English is limited. Delivery drivers help Safeway serve its customers, and we deserve to be treated with basic respect and professionalism. After today’s experience, I completely lost the motivation to continue working for the rest of the day. I am deeply disappointed in the management and customer service at this store. I sincerely hope Safeway’s corporate leadership investigates what happened and ensures that all delivery drivers are treated fairly and respectfully in the future.
