  I really do wish I could write a more positive review, but after a second disappointing day I’ve got to speak up in hope of prompting some changes at Andronico’s. First off, I’m local, living a half mile from Andronico’s, so we’ve shopped there regularly for over five years. Yesterday I went in, hoping to buy cilantro. Tried organic first, but they were out. Went over to non-organic, but that entire section of produce was empty, with no sign indicating what was up. So I asked at the meat counter. A young man came out and explained that the produce person was at lunch, and that restocking takes time. He made no effort to find cilantro. I then asked to speak to a manager, who explained that the cooling for that section was broken, and he offered to check for bunch cilantro. No luck. So I left with a $5 package of artisanal baby cilantro rather than a $2 bunch and a low opinion of Andronico’s youthful staff. Not having learned my lesson, I went in again this afternoon in search of basil. Silly me. None in stock. To those of you shaking your heads, thinking “Maybe you should time your visits to the Pacific Grove Farmers’ Market a little better,” I agree wholeheartedly. To those of you expecting your local grocery store to stock cilantro and basil, I would suggest the Pacific Grove Market or Lucky. If an Andronico’s employee with the power to actually improve the situation should read this, I’m more than happy to pay a visit and offer some constructive opinions.

  I’m honestly shocked by how customers are treated here. To be clear, the store employees were very nice and helpful. They even confirmed to the parking/security administrator that we were shopping there. Unfortunately, one bad actor completely ruined the experience at an otherwise good store. We were paying customers and were still shopping in the store. We briefly stepped away for about one minute to take a picture near the aquarium area, then came right back and continued shopping for around 15 minutes. While we were still shopping, we noticed that the parking/security administrator had called someone over to issue a ticket. Despite the store employees confirming that we were customers, he still proceeded with the ticketing situation. When we tried to ask about the ticket and explain that we were shopping, he would not listen, would not let us explain or ask questions, and only kept pointing to the parking rules sign. Instead of calmly explaining the policy or resolving the situation, he threatened us by saying, “Do you want trespass? I will give you,” then called a police number and provided our license plate. Is this really how paying customers are supposed to be treated? Does parking/security have the authority to ticket customers while they are actively shopping, ignore store employees confirming they are customers, refuse to let customers ask questions, and then threaten them with trespass? We left immediately to avoid escalation, but the experience felt extremely intimidating, disrespectful, and unreasonable. Management should seriously review how parking/security staff are handling customers here.

  I shop here on a regular basis...however, if I cant get my groceries out of the car and into the house because the bags are tearing apart. I will have to go somewhere else...please fix your bags
