The Benne Mysuru Masala Dosa was the closest to the Bangalore and Mysore originals that I’ve ever had in the US. The perfect crisp, taste of the potato masala inside and chutneys. It was so good that I had to pack it and take it back with me to Seattle! Really great stuff!
Pro tip: don’t miss the congress peanuts and khara bun if they’re available at the time!
I was really disappointed with my visit to Suryadharshini today with my family. This used to be one of my go-to places, but it seems like the staff has completely changed, and unfortunately the food quality has hit an all-time low.
The kitchen appeared to be run entirely by non-Indian staff, and the food reflected a lack of familiarity with the dishes. The dosa batter was severely over-fermented, making the dosa sour and unpleasant. The Pongal had undercooked lentils, and none of the chutneys tasted authentic or even close to what they normally should.
The biggest disappointment was the filter coffee. It was so diluted and watery that it barely resembled filter coffee. It honestly felt like I had paid for flavored water, and I genuinely wished I had asked for a refund.
What made the experience even worse was how my feedback was handled. I politely spoke to one of the workers about the food, asking what had happened to the quality. His response was simply that he didn’t know. He walked into the kitchen and never came back to address my concerns or offer any explanation or resolution.
It’s unfortunate to see a restaurant that once served consistently good South Indian food decline to this extent. Based on my experience today, I can’t recommend it.

Very tasty South Indian tiffins. Try benne masala dosa. It’s very good. Try filter coffee as well. Sometimes it can get a bit crowded during morning hours. Post 1 pm is mostly empty. Plenty of parking space available. Lots of seating space. It takes a while to get the benne masala dosa like 15 mins. They do have a variety of items on the menu but we liked the benne masala dosa the most.

The dosa and the actual idly were very good, but the chutney was extremely disappointing. The amount of ginger completely overpowered the flavor and made it inedible, in my opinion. Even my wife, who usually enjoys ginger, felt there was far too much of it.
It would be great if they offered an alternative chutney, but that doesn’t seem to be an option. Looking through recent reviews, I noticed several other customers mentioning the same issue. Hopefully the restaurant considers adjusting the recipe to make it more balanced and appealing to a wider range of tastes. Left disappointed, would not recommend.
