  Just drop bag of my groceries on parking lot. Because some genius decided to provide customers with handless shopping bag. What a great idea. Not going to shop here anymore. By the way you still have to pay for this rubbish bags.

  This was one of the most blatantly disrespectful customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time. The deli workers were openly talking badly about customers in Spanish directly in front of everyone, clearly thinking nobody could understand them. Hearing employees mock and speak about people so comfortably to their faces was beyond unprofessional — it was humiliating, hostile, and incredibly distasteful. And then when my order was ready, instead of simply handing me my sandwich with basic decency, the worker practically threw it at me. That moment alone summed up the entire atmosphere: rude, dismissive, and full of contempt toward the very people keeping the business open. Being bilingual doesn’t make me offended by Spanish — it made me aware of how horribly customers were being spoken about behind fake smiles. There’s no excuse for treating people this way. I left feeling angry, disrespected, and genuinely shocked that staff members are comfortable behaving like this openly in front of customers.

  Dismal is the word. Cashiers are often quite unfriendly and occasionally rude. Some workers do not speak English rendering it hard to get answers for even basic questions. Bags fall apart. Bathroom smells like a crime scene. Avoid!

  The night manager, Carlos, denied entry to myself, a 25 year plus customer of the Safeway brand, at 11:54pm, earlier than the scheduled midnight close time of midnight. Other customers were still in the store and a cashier was still checking people out who were in line, even her checkout line number was still lit up. Carlos wouldnt come to the sliding doors to speak to me and instead made hand motions that told me he didn't care for my business and wanted me to go away. When I called the store at 11:57pm to complain of this poor customer service treatment and violation of posted store hours, the same Carlos picked up and was quite dismissive of me and clearly values closing early, his selfish needs, rather than representing Safeway's mission statement "to earn customer loyalty by anticipating and fulfilling needs through superior-quality products, unique shopping experiences, and customer-focused service while generating profit." Calling the store in the AM and speaking to the store manager was a repeat experience in the clear lack of care. Store managers Jesse & Carlos were dismissive, have forgotten who they serve, must see their job as an entitlement rather than a privilege, and casts the entire location's dedication to it's local customers' needs, delivering on the promises of the brand, and to do what's right into question. As small as my incident was, and given the opportunity to make it right was denied at the store level, it is quite possible that more egregious Safeway value violations are being made. You should be ashamed of yourselves. One poor experience is all it takes to ruin a brand. Perhaps corporate should spend some time directing Jesse and Carlos to go through remediation with the trainers of Trader Joes grocers.
