⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a fantastic experience at Shiok! Singapore Kitchen! The food was flavorful, fresh, and packed with delicious Singaporean-inspired flavors. The portions were satisfying, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was friendly. A great spot for anyone craving tasty Southeast Asian cuisine—I’ll definitely be back!

I was excited to find a Singaporean restaurant on the Peninsula, especially with Killiney Kopitam's reopening postponed for so long. I stopped by Shiok for brunch on a Saturday, and unfortunately it was underwhelming. The brunch menu is a lot more limited than the regular menu, with options limited to kaya toast with soft-boiled eggs and a few entrees. Some dishes include a choice of complimentary drink but some did not; I think this should be consistent across all options (or offer an add-on at a small charge). They only gave us brunch menus, so if the expanded regular menu options is available, the servers should mention this. * Beef rendang: The flavors of the curry and the very tender slow-cooked beef was very delicious and memorable, but the rest of the plate was not. It came on a large rectangular plate with a lot of negative space: a small pile of the beef rendang in the corner, a small pile of roasted peanuts, a few slices of cucumber cut into fancy shapes, a deep-fried battered hard-boiled egg, a little scoop of sauce, and a huge serving of rice. Besides the beef rendang and the egg, the rest of the plate was lackluster and I feel like they could easily incorporate other sides to make it less empty and more appealing than just the random peanuts and cucumbers. * Laksa: Prawns were huge but there were only 2 and didn't taste like the most fresh. It came with some chicken, fried tofu, hard-boiled eggs, and sliced cucumbers. The noodles were limp and less al dente than I'd like; overall the flavors were not bad but nothing mind-blowing. *Kopi: Liked how it wasn't too sweet, but it wasn't very strong and tasted a bit watered down. I wouldn't purchase a drink if it weren't included in part of the brunch set. We ordered the chicken satay as well, but it never arrived. We gave up and didn't follow-up with the server, since the rest of the meal was so average and it was on the pricey side with each entree ~$20-$22. Other notes: - Easy free parking (up to 3h) in adjacent lot - I don't want to complain too much, but there were other kinks: it was confusing whether it was actually open, because it looked dark inside and the "open" lit-up sign was turned off - Ambiance is nice. It has a theme of traditional decor with posh upscale touches and a very zen-like, relaxing music in the background. The verdict: I really want to come back and give it another try, especially the other regular menu items. They have a lot of potential, and I hope they straighten out the little things.

The restaurant moves to new location. I visit this restaurant during lunch time. This new location recently opened. I came here as I keep seeing post on social media specially it's lunch menu. The restaurant has simple design with plenty of table system. We ordered chicken rice, laksa, roti, char kwe thaw, crispy tofu, kopi peng and kopi o. The fod was ready pretty quickly. Now about the food. I am a bit dissapointed. I was excited when we decided to come and have lunch but all are considered average. One thing that surprised me but it was explained by the may be owner was about Char Kwe Tiaw. At all the places I have this, it is cooked and comes with pork lard and at this restaurant it was not because the owner want it to be available for everyone. For me the missing part is flavor of each dish. The Laksa soup is good but it is at the light side. The char Kwe Tiaw a bit at the sweet side. The chicken rice is ok. Roti is ok. Crispy tofu come with sweet sauce. Kopi is good. If you have visited other Singaporean restaurant before you can tell the different.

“Shiok” means delicious and deeply satisfying in Singaporean slang — and Shiok! Singapore Kitchen truly lives up to its name. This beloved Menlo Park restaurant has finally reopened in a beautiful new location on Oak Grove Avenue, close to the downtown Menlo Park post office. Owner Dennis Lim has done a fantastic job decorating the restaurant with a warm tropical motif. The new space is bright, spacious, comfortable, and has plenty of convenient parking. The menu is classic Singaporean and Malaysian comfort food. We had the Family Meal for 4, which came with a generous selection of dishes and plenty of food to share. Our meal included roti prata, sambal string beans, Singapore chili prawns, Singapore butter cereal prawns, chicken rice, and fresh, steaming-hot fried chicken wings. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and delicious. The Hainanese chicken rice was superb — simple, fragrant, and very comforting. The fried chicken wings were fresh, crispy, and piping hot. The roti platter was a great way to start the meal, and the prawns and vegetables were full of authentic Southeast Asian flavor. I enjoyed the Singarpore coffee Kopi with condensed milk. Shiok! is also starting Singaporean brunch on July 12, which will be another great reason to visit. Congratulations to Dennis and the Shiok! team on bringing this wonderful restaurant back to Menlo Park. It is spacious, welcoming, beautifully decorated, and the food is truly “shiok.”
