  To whom it may concern, I am writing this formal complaint regarding a deeply upsetting and humiliating experience at the Safeway on El Camino. I was shopping with my13-year-old daughter and my 15-year-old niece. We went to pick up ravioli for my 5-year-old. After checking out, an employee directed us to the self-checkout. We paid and got our receipt. As we were walking away, something made me turn back. I saw the same employee tapping on the screen we had used. When I asked if he was checking if we had paid, he laughed. He claimed he was only looking for the receipt, but I didn’t believe that. His laughter and dismissive attitude made me feel embarrassed, humiliated, and disrespected. As a Black customer, I left feeling racially profiled. I asked to speak to a manager and learned his name was Francisco. While I was speaking with the manager, Francisco walked directly toward me. He’s a very tall man, and instead of giving me space, he smirked and stared into my eyes in a way that felt intimidating. I felt frightened and unsafe. No customer should feel afraid while reporting an employee’s behavior. I walked in expecting to buy groceries for my family and I walked out humiliated, intimidated, and emotionally shaken. I used to work at that Safeway years ago and I always thought of it as one of the best locations. Now, I no longer feel comfortable returning. What concerns me most is that customer service employees represent your company. They interact with people from every walk of life and never know what someone is dealing with before they walk in. I respectfully request a thorough investigation and appropriate corrective action so no other customer has to experience what I did. I hope Safeway takes this seriously and ensures every customer is treated with dignity and respect.”ITS BEEN 3 days still no call

  I despise that this Safeway doesn’t have baskets. Love the store though, been twice in the last 24 hours, each time struggling to carry my items because I don’t want to use a giant cart >:(

  I went shopping at the Menlo Park Safeway on El Camino Real yesterday. I usually only buy a few items, so I never need A shopping cart, I always use a hand carried basket. The store no longer offers hand basket, you have to use a shopping cart. I got stuck waiting for people multiple times where the store narrows and only one person can get by with a shopping cart at the same time.
