  I went this afternoon to go buy some Roasted chicken. A cashier opened up so I went ahead to get in line after an elderly lady. I thought she had put all groceries on the belt but forgot one of her veggies so as soon as my groceries got to the cashier He literally shoved all my groceries back without being careful with my chicken so the chicken juice spilled everywhere . I didnt say anything as I just wanted to pay already. When it was my turn he seemed very rude even pausing my groceries to talk to some random customer when he came back he said they were friends from high school . I still didn't say anything I was getting a bit uncomfortable when he went to put my groceries in the bag he threw inside as if he didnt want to do it . He didnt say anything not even have a good day. I was so uncomfortable to the point where I almost walked out with no groceries. I often come here due to my job being close by but this just made me feel like I shouldn't come here at all now . His name is Keith as I read on the receipt.

  Happy they are often open, but miss having them open 24 hours. Sales seem to be less impressive likely due to higher fuel costs. Staff is nearly always friendly and helpful. Keeping self-checkout open later would help reduce the lines esp. during employee breaks.

  So, this seems to be a consistent thing with safeway I am finding out. I went into a safeway store in Menlo Park to play the lottery. No one at the desk. I asked a cashier who was black if he could call someone. He did in fact. A coworker who was working at the self checkout pointed at me and suggested I come to her, which I did. Her name was Wendy. She went into a side door only to have me wait another 5 minutes and then she came out with food in her mouth. She pretended to know how to use the lottery machine but didn’t know how. The same black male cashier called someone else and I waited another 5 minutes and another employee asked by. I asked him and he said everyone was on break. So, a third time the black male cashier called again and a manager came. Her name was Carmen. And she told me is he was on break as well. I’m not accusing or speculating but it seems very obviously the non-black personnel have an issue with h helping people or color. I said before I wouldn’t come back to these stores, but I gave them another chance and the end result was ultimately the same. If anyone of higher management views this. It should be addressed immediately. Instead of having customers wait becof their skin pigmentation
