Came for the first time with high expectations after hearing great things. The restaurant was nearly empty, and my family and I were seated right away.
Unfortunately, after being seated, we were never greeted, offered drinks, or asked for our order. We watched staff check on other tables, deliver food, and process payments while no one acknowledged us, despite making eye contact with multiple servers.
We were the only family of color in our section, and everyone seated around us was white. While I never want to assume intent, being completely overlooked while every surrounding table received service made the experience feel uncomfortable and concerning.
After waiting more than 20 minutes without any service, we decided to leave. When I spoke with the manager, I was told they were on day three of a new POS system. While I understand technical issues happen, that didn’t explain why our table was never greeted in an otherwise empty restaurant. The apology felt more like an excuse than accountability.

Wow. The food was amazing. All homemade. You can tell. And not overly priced for a beach town. Service was so helpful. Anita was so kind. And can’t beat eating lunch looking at the ocean. Hometown feel. Just wow.

Waited almost 45 minutes for food to come out. Waiter was great, mentioned that they were down 2 cooks that day. Others got food faster and others longer. My omelet was luke warm. The bean muffin was nothing like it used to be. It smelled like they baked it with expired flour...I used to love the kettle, but I will and have moved on to other places,
The Kettle is a Manhattan Beach classic and one of our favorite places to grab a meal by the beach. It's the perfect spot to bring the family on a Sunday morning for brunch before or after a walk along the Strand.
The food is consistently great, whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late-night bite. There's something for everyone on the menu, which makes it an easy choice when dining with family and friends.
What really stands out is the hospitality. Chemo, the manager, is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always makes guests feel appreciated. The staff is attentive, hardworking, and keeps the same positive attitude even during the late-night hours.
We’ve visited several times over the years, and the service and overall experience have always been consistent. Between the great food, welcoming atmosphere, and prime location just steps from the beach, it's easy to see why The Kettle has been a local favorite for so long. Highly recommend for families, locals, and visitors alike.

Our group stopped here shortly after arriving in town, and it ended up being one of the best meals of the trip. The restaurant has a welcoming, classic feel and a menu packed with options, making it easy for everyone to find something that sounded good. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast, lunch, or comfort food, they've got plenty to choose from.
I started with one of their freshly baked muffins, which arrived warm and was absolutely worth ordering. It was the perfect balance of sweet and indulgent without being overly heavy. Several people at our table ordered different baked goods, and every one of them received rave reviews.
For my main course, I chose a slow-cooked beef dish served with mashed potatoes and a side salad. Everything was excellent. The salad was fresh and crisp, the potatoes were creamy and flavorful, and the beef was incredibly tender. It was the kind of comfort food that feels homemade but elevated. The rich sauce tied everything together perfectly and made the dish especially memorable.
The service was another highlight. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the meal. Combined with the relaxed atmosphere and consistently good food, it’s easy to see why this place has such a loyal following. If you're in the area and looking for a reliable spot with great food and excellent service, this is definitely worth a visit.
