We made a reservation for my husbands birthday and we decided to choose Mastros- a reputable restraint with a beautiful view. Paying over $400 you would expect at least mediocre service. Unfortunately that was not the case. We waited over 15 minutes for menus, another 20 minutes before the server finally came over to get our order- we hadn’t even gotten our drink order taken yet. We put in food and drinks and all cocktails were made and brought but I didn’t receive my soda until the food was brought. It was almost impossible to keep the attention of our server which can be understandable as it’s busy but with how many moving parts and the price, I should not have to request a drink multiple times. They also did not say happy birthday or do anything of the sort. I would not go back nor recommend this restaurant.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Mastro’s today 7/25
I made my reservation a week in advance and specifically requested a window table in the main dining room for a birthday celebration. Instead, we were seated near the kitchen entrance in one of the busiest walkways of the restaurant for a $447 bill. Staff were constantly walking in and out, and servers carrying trays repeatedly passed directly over our heads. It completely took away from the atmosphere and made the celebration feel far less special.
To make matters worse, our waiter mentioned around 10:18 PM that dessert would be “on the house” for the birthday. We never requested a complimentary dessert, so I was surprised to later see it charged on the bill.
For a restaurant that positions itself as a premium dining experience, the attention to detail and customer experience fell short. Between the disappointing seating arrangement, the constant traffic around our table, and the confusion regarding the dessert charge, the overall vibe was underwhelming. Definitely not the experience I expected for a special occasion.

Today I took my client for what I thought was going to be a beautiful fine dining experience, I was very disappointed. As you can see from my page, I never even leave bad reviews but today I MUST. I have been a regular at the Beverly hills location for over a decade and have always received impeccable service. Today was a different story. The service was odd from the beginning with only one waitress seemingly making an effort. A waiter spilled the sauce of a starter all over one of my guests and onto there clothes but they didn’t even apologies. In fact they didn’t say a word. We told the manager who was also very condescending. When I was speaking to him he was trying not to look at me and speak only to my friend. I felt the service was outright racist and discriminatory and you should be ashamed. The manager never bothered to revisit at the end of them meal or even see us out to ask how we liked the food. Will never return even though the food was outstanding the service was far from.

The food was good, but unfortunately, that’s where the positive experience ended.
My husband and I made reservations for our 1-year wedding anniversary at 6:30 p.m. and arrived 45 minutes early. We specifically requested a window seat and were told it wasn’t guaranteed, which we completely understood. We were willing to wait until our reservation time rather than be seated early at a different table.
At 6:30 p.m., we still weren’t given a window seat. The manager offered us a table that was closer to the window, and although we were disappointed, we accepted it and tried not to let it ruin our evening.
What really bothered us was watching multiple parties who arrived after us, without reservations, get seated at window tables while we had been waiting for ours. That made absolutely no sense and left us feeling overlooked.
The service didn’t improve from there. When our waiter came to take our drink order, I ordered a berry margarita. Before my husband could even say what he wanted, the waiter suggested a watermelon drink with Tajín on the rim. It felt like he made an assumption about what my husband would want rather than simply asking him. Combined with everything else that had happened, the entire experience felt uncomfortable.
I don’t normally jump to race being a factor, but when you’re celebrating a special occasion, have a reservation, make reasonable requests, and then watch others who came after you receive better accommodations, it’s hard not to question why.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate a milestone in our marriage, and instead we left disappointed. Good food cannot make up for poor service or make up for feeling unwelcome. We won’t be returning.

We went to Mastro’s for my mom’s 60th birthday and it was disappointing. My mom wanted to order the crab legs and the server said that it was really expensive and that she should instead order the cocktail. My mom asked again about how the crab legs were prepared and the server instead gave her the price and told her she’d be happier with the cocktail. My mom said she felt embarrassed especially because the conversation was loud and could be overheard by the other tables. Similarly, presumptions were made about ordering specialty whiskey and we had to request the whiskey menu. I also was trying to order a second salad for my partner but the server said my salad was big enough to share. It was but I didn’t like the presumption. The food was nice but the server didn’t serve all of us at the table and served us the wrong sides, even after we commented. Similarly, the food was packed in a way that everyone’s food was mixed together versus everyone having their own individual leftovers. Our table was okay but if you can sit by the window, that’s where you get the best views. We left disappointed with the experience and the service. I didn’t like that my mom couldn’t order the crab legs, the presumptions in general or how she was talked to by the server, especially for her 60th birthday.
