  5 stars for the supermarket's grocery selection, prices, freshness of the fruits, veggies, meat, and seafood. But a negative for the queue line to pay for your groceries. My most recent visit here, only two register lanes were opened. Both long. The self-checkout also had a queue line because only 3 checkout stations were working of the four.

  Why is it like this EVERY TIME I COME IN HERE! Why have so many cashier registers empty! Hire enough to stand at all!!!! This makes no sense and every line is the long. One star, and that star is ONLY for Juana. Every single time I come to this Vons, the lines are outrageously long. Tonight I stood in line for over 35 minutes just to check out groceries after a full workday. There were multiple registers sitting empty while only a few cashiers were working and lines were wrapped with people waiting. Thank you to Juana, who eventually came to help after multiple calls for assistance. She is always polite, patient, professional, and kind even while clearly being overwhelmed and understaffed. She deserves recognition and honestly deserves a raise for the amount of stress she deals with daily. But Vons management should be ashamed of how poorly this store is staffed. Please do not insult customers by pretending there “isn’t budget” for more employees. Vons is an expensive grocery store where nothing is cheap. The money is clearly there. Customers should not be spending almost an hour waiting in checkout lines at night because management refuses to properly staff the store. People are tired after work. Some have kids, long commutes, or are just trying to get home and cook dinner. Waiting nearly 40 minutes in checkout lines regularly is unacceptable.

  The afternoon manager has something against for some reason not sure. I usually come in after 10pm and respect everything they ask such as if i cant check out in self check out because theres no one else in line but having over 15 items gets you sent to the only checkout lane open. Ive left my cart for less than 30 seconds and told them directly that it was my cart. They were not talking to anyone else and directly looked at me and even said ok. I come back its been taking by the same manager i told was mine and filled it random stuff so i had to sort my stuff out and told me it was only 3 things which was a lie i had 10 items in my cart which got scattered to other carts very quickly almost maliciously. 30 seconds of memory was too much apparently. I have no issues with the manager which is why i still shop here but they keep harassing me like i harassed them. I asked 1 time for an exchange for an item and they had no one else in line but for some reasone they had an attitude and insuated i was stupid because i had used a coupon more than i was allowed and wanted to try and scam them or something. All i wanted was an exchange for a smaller item so the coupon would work and all i got was being told i was wrong and no way it would work until it did. I understand if you have a bad day but this is way to consistent to call it bad day. Did also overhear them talking with a customer about other customers and how horrible it is here.

  Posting this with a photo for context. I came into this Vons on 3rd Street with a receipt from another location and politely asked if they could remake a drink that wasn’t made correctly. An employee said yes, but a manager overheard and told him no right in front of me after he had already agreed. The issue was not at all the policy it was how it was handled. The manager was dismissive, removed her name tag when I asked for her name, and escalated the situation by calling security instead of simply explaining anything. Another manager came over shortly after and honored the remake with no problem, which shows it could have been handled professionally from the start. What’s also concerning is that when I followed up, I was told I had asked for a “refill,” which is not accurate. I clearly asked for a remake of a drink I had just purchased and had a receipt for. Very inconsistent service, poor communication, and unnecessary escalation. Sharing the photo for transparency, someone needs to get in contact with me immediately as this is unacceptable.

  I am a regular customer at this Vons store. On weekends and sometimes during weekdays, there is an adult Black man standing outside asking for chocolate donations. He made racist comments toward me and my friend, and we had a small argument. The security guard was inside the store and could hear everything, but did not come out or try to stop the situation. When I finished shopping and left the store, the same man was still there and continued yelling at us, using insults and making offensive comments. I would like Vons to prevent people who are doing these kinds of donation solicitations from standing outside the store.I believe it would be appropriate to prevent this man from selling or asking for chocolate donations outside the store, as his behavior could potentially become threatening. Since I shop at this market with my child, I do not want to encounter him at Vons again.
