This place probably has the potential to be great but it just ain't so at the moment Stopped by with some friends in the evening and only 1-2 tables occupied. They only have ipads to order from so I guess no human interaction is the key thing here. I ordered the chicken caesar sandwich thing and it was nearly $20. I sure hoped this was worth it. We sat outside and at one point a girl came out with two of our four plates but didn't mention anything about the other two, one of which was mine. One of my friends went inside and noticed two plates just sitting on the counter but wasn't sure if it was ours so he let us know and when I went inside, sure enough, my and our other friend's sandwich was sitting there and the staff was just standing around. It's a decent size sandwich thing but that's about it. The bread/dough is pretty soft and bland. The chicken was crispy but dry. And the lettuce on top was crunchy. But there was virtually no caesar dressing flavor and if you served this to me without saying what it was, I would never guess a "caesar" salad sandwich wrap thing. I don't know if their goal is for aesthetics and tik tok looks but even then, the sandwich didn't really have that appealing factor just by looking at it - a dough of sorts topped with chicken and a pile of lettuce on top.

The food was really delicious. I loved the pastrami sandwich, and the chicken Caesar salad was also very good. The one thing I didn’t like, though, was that for some reason, the chicken had a fishy taste.

I heard so much about this restaurant and I thought I’d give it a try. I am a sandwich connoisseur! My husband is professional chef! Anyways, the atmosphere was horrific! Not a welcoming vibe, but it was OK because I was excited to taste the food! I ordered the chicken Caesar sandwich, not only did it take forever, even though it was literally just like two people in a restaurant! I felt like I was eating a sandwich that was pre-frozen! The chicken was thinning! The crust was overcooked! I’m gonna give them before basically one of the worst sandwiches I ate in my life! But I’m not really this critical! But it seemed like they cooked it. They heated up in the microwave. They need to clean air fryer because it tastes dirty! Super greasy! The people who are saying this that this restaurant is good they clearly don’t know good food. They clearly grew up in a household. Their parents are guardian couldn’t cook so this is just like next to best for them. I thought I was being a punked!

Some of the best sandwiches in LA. The bread to sauce to topping ratio is so good. AND they do not skimp on the meats or sauce. The pastrami and milanese are my favorites but you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches.

Sandough on Melrose is one of those places I've had bookmarked forever but never seem to get around to. Every time I'm on this side of town, there are about fifty other places competing for my attention. This time, I finally made it over, and I'm glad I did. If you like fresh ingredients, great bread, and sandwiches that are a little different from the norm, Sandough is worth checking out. Their entire concept revolves around their signature bread, which is somewhere between pizza dough and a sandwich roll. Imagine a pizza and a sandwich having a very successful child. That's basically what you're getting here. The menu is surprisingly simple. About ten hot and cold sandwiches, a few drinks, chips, beer, and not much else. No giant menu with a hundred options. They know what they do, and they stick to it. I ordered the Mortadella, mainly because one of my trusted food influencers swears by it. It was also one of the less expensive sandwiches on the menu, but that wasn't why I picked it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I'll spend the extra money if it's worth it. This was simply the one I was told to try first. The ordering process is completely self-service through tablets. No waitress service, no real interaction, and no opportunity to ask my usual question: "It's my first time here, what should I get?" So I followed the influencer's advice and rolled with it. The sandwich itself was very fresh and very flavorful. Mortadella, fresh mozzarella, and that signature bread. That's pretty much it. Simple ingredients done well. Personally, I could have used a little more going on. Maybe some greens, tomatoes, or another layer of flavor. But that's more about my personal preference than a flaw in the sandwich. What really stood out was the bread. It has a crisp exterior, a soft interior, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. Honestly, the bread is the star of the show. Parking was surprisingly easy for Melrose. I found a metered spot less than half a block away and was parked within minutes. The restaurant itself occupies two storefronts that have been combined into one space, with one side handling ordering and the other focused on pickup. Will I come back? Absolutely. Next time, though, I'm going hot. I saw a chicken parmesan come out that nearly caused me to change my order on the spot. The chicken Caesar also looked fantastic. Overall, Sandough delivers exactly what it promises: fresh ingredients, unique sandwiches, excellent bread, and a concept that stands out in a city full of sandwich shops. If you're in the area and want something that's part sandwich, part pizza, and completely satisfying, put this one on your list.
