  Absolutely the rudest staff. Every time I’ve gone in there the employees appear to be bothered that they have customers. I keep trying to give this place a chance but today is the last time. I went there at 2:40. I was the only one in line and The Barista was standing at the counter fumbling with a clipboard. She didn’t even acknowledge I was there, and after about 2 minutes she said “Are you done?” I told her I hadn’t even ordered and she said very sarcastically stated “I thought you were still looking”. I placed my order, and was getting cash out of my pocket for the tip jar and she laughed and said “We don’t take cash”. Having been to Alfred’s before I am aware, and I simply said “that was for your tip”. I absolutely love their coffee, but not their attitude. Every other Alfred’s I have been to their employees are awesome except for the one in Highland Park.

  very bad 1st impression Wasn't greeted by anyone everyone was all over the place taking care of things but just wish I would've been told to hold on they'd be with me in a moment. They passed around multiple times just ignoring me standing there. Once the cashier was finally done he finally came to the register btw he was just turned around he had his back to me, again weird. He said hi and proceeded to show he was ready to take our order. Lucky I have social skills and read that even though he didnt seem interested in interacting or making eye contact. They were out of bagels which is the only thing i was interested in and only had gluten free and I was offered no other alternatives while I stood there thinking and not knowing what else to try so on the spot I had to pick my own backup it was so awkward because I felt like he could've offered another good option i mean after all it was my 1st time here.. I waited quite some time in a relatively empty shop and didn't hear my name but saw the bag on the counter.. i waited a bit longer until I finally asked if it was mine he responded yes . I said I didn't hear him call my name and he said well he did with the fakest smile as if he did it on purpose idk it was weird. Neither myself or my bf heard him and no coffee was being made it was quiet Other guests were welcome upon going to the cashier as well while I sat and ate I witnessed this. I really hope it's not because I'm Latina and many of the patrons were well not my skin color.

  I’m bummed this place isn’t better. The customer service is pretty bad. The coffee is not bad but it’s only served in disposable cups. Piles and piles of trash coming out of this place. Air-conditioning blasting with all the windows open. Putting my money elsewhere with better social/environmental vibes.

  This has to be my favorite alfred location by far. Friendly staff, great service and the drinks always consistent at this location.

  In this economy I’m confused on how you turn down literal cash? I’m not sure I understand the concept of being cashless how can I pay for something if I don’t have a bank account? And I’ll I have is cash? A really poor business model to go by and it’s very classist of this establishment probably won’t come back because of this.
