We absolutely need this grocery store but get ready, breathe deep, because it's a reliably bad experience at checkout. First, there is so much locked-up and then you can't take any of it through self check out. Today the batteries were locked up and no staff could get them from me until I went through check out, holding up everything once it was my turn at the register. The check out is the worst. Just poorly trained disorganized staff and baggers who the last couple years are also kind of not nice. They pile people's groceries on top of each other's at the end of the conveyor instead of waiting for the person ahead to stop bagging, and just stare at you like the mess can'tbe avoided. Literally today I couldn't tell where my groceries ended and the other customer's started so I almost took a lady's bag. The cashier also had "go back" food on the conveyor belt that mixed with my groceries. They also routinely wait for the lines to back-up down the aisles, and then open a new register with no plan, no help for anyone already waiting. But a lot of stuff was on sale, so win. We need this Vons, but it is a sign of our poor times for sure.

Ever since they opened the self check outs again the employees watching that area are rude for no reason without fail every time we check out. It’s always the most attitude over nothing upon entering the area and is absolutely bonkers. The employees are lovely in the regular checkouts but self check out just entering the area your treated like you committed a crime. I understand they’re understaffed to hell and that’s its own issue and with Long Beach laws and self check on out it’s a whole thing on its own- but there is really no reason for them to be so borderline hostile to people who haven’t even took a step towards a register yet.

This is the worst Vons I ever encountered. The Deli for hot food workers are extremely lazy and RUDE. Everything is ALWAY AND I MEAN ALWAYS dried out or Neber available. They NEVER meet the demand for the working folks typically 9am - pm. And everytime I ask there is an EXCUSE why . I mean people to get off work in the evening and may just want to grab something from the deli. That's NEVER possible because it's NEVER available. And then they have attitudes that you're even asking. Do better get better staff in the kitchen that understands the needs of servicing the public.
