The waitress took our order, just a party of four but then she forgot to turn the order to the kitchen. It was strange that a Friday night and hardly any customers were there. We sat forever. Finally she remembered to submit it to the kitchen. Not even offering an apology. I think she was too busy playing on her phone with other staffers. The food finally came and she had also forgotten two of the requests? Halfway through eating, we ordered additional drinks. She forgot that as well, but remembered as we’re getting ready to leave, saying she was going to bring them then. A hard NO. Half of my order, gumbo, was terrible and I couldn’t even touch it. I think somebody dropped a full salt shaker into and then just mixed it in. We left and I had to go somewhere else to get something to eat. This was by far the worst place we ate on our whole vacation. By far. I now completely understand why this large restaurant was empty on a Friday night. Highly recommend NOT going here at risk of leaving greatly frustrated, sick to your stomach and hungry.

Found worms in our broccoli. There was 6 of us and when we got our food, 3 of us found worms in our broccoli. Absolutely unacceptable and we only got half off those meals after they were remade and we had to wait LONGER for our food for half of us. Tye manager was trying to be nice about it but the disgust of what happened and not getting, i dont know, maybe just those meals for free or something at the least just ruined the whole experience for us all. Not to mention the screaming child behind our table and no one doing anything about it. Only redeeming quality was our great waiter, i believe his name was Face (sorry if i spelled it wrong) he was the best and only good part of our visit. Not coming back for worm food and a bad cover up for it happening. Edit: We spoke to the manager afterwards at the gift shop about (didn't get her name but it was a woman with glittery make up, about 5foot 8inches maybe) and she was oblivious about how she should have handled it. My Uncle was very polite when speaking to her and said he disagreed with the small discount she gave us and that the meals should have been comped, and i heavily agreed, i wouldve said something but wouldnt have wanted to give that amazing waiter any trouble at the time, but she said "if you wouldve said something i would have comped the meals". We shouldnt have had to say anything about the food, 2 of us were disgusted to the point of not being able to finish our food, we arent bartering. I normally like coleslaw but i didnt touch mine after seeing that wormfood. Im sorry but that manager did nearly everything wrong in that situation. She even tried to tell us that it was just garlic in our food. Garlic doesnt have worms and eyes. I will be editing and posting a picture of the worms too to this review or my uncle will. Edit 2: Picture of what was in one of our plates of food added.

The food wasn't that great. The gumbo was very salty, I think it had been sitting in a warmer all day which evaporated a lot of water and made it very concentrated and salty. The rice on top of the gumbo was overcooked and mushy. Also had a seafood platter which was just ok. The items were crispy and not greasy but the fish and shrimp seemed like frozen seafood quality. The French fries were not very crispy and not very hot as if they were prepared first and sitting out while the seafood was still being prepared. Service was excellent with our server having a great trivia contest for his section of tables. It was entertaining, educational, and made the time pass really quick so it seemed like there was no wait for our food to come out.

I’m sad to update this review because I’ve been a big fan of this place for a while but our last visit was awful. I initially wrote a positive review because we were told if we did that we would get a free dessert. The kids really wanted it so I said ok but the whole time writing it just felt wrong because the experience was not a positive one. The service was very slow, I had ordered a chicken salad that came with 6 pieces of chicken on it. My friend ordered the shrimp Mac and cheese and she o my had 3 pieces of shrimp in it. My kids pizza was very undercooked. It’s our go to place after an aquarium visit but we might rethink our choice next time.

My first visit to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Long Beach was a lot of fun, and it definitely won't be my last. I stopped in for a quick snack and ended up having a great experience. My server, Randall, was outstanding. He took the time to explain the menu, showed me how everything worked, and made me feel welcome from the moment I sat down. I had to test him on the famous "Run Forrest, Run!" signs at the table. He told me to flip the sign to red whenever I needed something, and I actually timed it. It took him about a minute and a half to make it to my table. I thought I could catch him slipping, but he was on it every single time! The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Sunday afternoon, but the staff handled it like pros. One of the highlights was when the employees grabbed a bullhorn and started asking Forrest Gump trivia questions throughout the dining room. The guests were shouting out answers, laughing, and having a great time. It really added to the atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent, and the whole experience was just plain fun. Thank you, Randall, for making my first visit so memorable. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Long Beach. Five stars all the way!
