My friend from Pleasanton & I from Stockton, met at Meza n Moka to visit after some years and have lunch. I chose the meeting place because we both enjoy Middle Eastern food. We both had wraps, one lamb the other falafel- Delicious and the bread was especially good. We each also had a mug of hot chai latte, which carried us through 3 hours of visiting. And we were never hurried or felt awkward. I only wish I lived in Livermore so that I could try more of their extensive menu. It will be my stop in place from now on!

Finally made the drive from South San Jose to Livermore to try Meza n Moka, a halal Mediterranean/North African restaurant. We ordered quite a few things to get a good feel for the menu: • Algerian Chicken Sandwich • Steak Dinner • Chicken Alfredo • Hummus • Falafel • Strawberry Mojito • Mango Mojito • Strawberry Lemonade • Chai Pot The Algerian Chicken Sandwich was probably the highlight for us. It was packed with flavor, and my wife really enjoyed it. The steak was nicely seasoned and had good flavor, but unfortunately it was a little more well-done than I asked for. I ordered it medium, so that took away from the experience a bit. My son ordered the Chicken Alfredo, and he really liked it. It was cheesy, rich, and had a nice creamy sauce. The hummus and falafel were okay, but honestly nothing really stood out to me compared with some of the other halal Mediterranean spots I’ve tried. The drinks were decent as well. The mojitos and strawberry lemonade were okay, and the chai pot was fine but didn’t really wow me. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and a clean, welcoming feel, and the staff were friendly. Overall, I’m glad we made the trip and tried it, but based on the food we ordered, I’d give it 3/5 stars. There were some good dishes, especially the Algerian chicken sandwich and chicken Alfredo, but I was expecting a little more considering the drive from South San Jose.

We ordered two lamb shawarma sandwiches, but unfortunately they weren’t shawarma at all. The meat was just grilled. I also asked if the dolma was homemade, and was told yes, but it clearly tasted store-bought and not fresh. The chai was just okay, but it didn’t make up for the rest. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

I was really disappointed with the service at Meza and Moka. I placed a to-go order and ended up waiting about 45 minutes for it to be ready. I understand restaurants can get busy, but there was very little communication about the delay or when I could expect my order. A 45-minute wait for a takeout order is excessive and made the experience very frustrating. I hope they can improve their order timing and communication with customers going forward.

We went there for brunch few months ago and everyone in our group ended up with a severe bout of food poisoning. We had ordered shawarma plates and it didn't look fresh and probably was just re-heated. It was also dry. The sauces were good. We had a flight to catch the next day and we were miserable because of the food poisoning. Coffee was nice but I am not eating there again, not worth the risk.
