Love our local Safeway! They do a great job of keeping things stocked, even on busy weekends. But, they could do a better job of preventing beach parking from using their parking lot. The pharmacy staff is fantastic!

Bought $221.00 of the wrong type of batteries, went to exchange or return the next day, everything unopened with receipt and they would not take back. Said it was their store policy, not corporate. Shame on you Safeway. Never shop here again or any Safeway

Great grocery store, but they are not paying their employees enough. When I was getting checked out by my cashier, I asked if I could get a bag for my smaller items. She said nothing to me, but another employee that was standing next to her grabbed a bag. She then said to him " they should pay us more" . Justice for Safeway employees. Pay them a fair wage.

3 separate instances of food safety issues - half n half going bad before sell by date indicating refrigeration problem, pomegranate seeds also bitter/bad upon opening (2nd refer issue), and most recent punctured lid under plastic cap on marinade. Open random items on store shelves (example: open soda can). Most litter in parking lot of any business in all north lake on any given day. Understaffed, always. 2 checkers at any given time with lines extending up aisles. No one at customer service counter. Items piled up on carts near customer service crowding the already crowded front space. Store encourages self checkout which is cash less and which you cannot buy age restricted items (alcohol and medication). Higher prices on items compared to Raley's in Incline.

My first time ever visiting Lake Tahoe from Maryland, and this was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. Yesterday We stopped here around 7:00 AM to grab breakfast for my little sisters. They picked out some doughnuts and drinks, and as we were getting ready to check out, I caught something moving out of the corner of my eye. To my disbelief, a rat was running along the ledge above the bread aisle. That alone was enough to make us want to leave immediately. This store seriously needs to address its pest problem. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse at checkout. There was only one register open (#2). While we were waiting, the customer in front of us politely asked if he could still enter his phone number for rewards after forgetting to do it initially. The cashier responded with a rude, dismissive attitude, saying, "You always do that in the beginning, not now." It was completely unnecessary, and the poor guy looked embarrassed. Then it was our turn. There wasn't even a simple "Good morning" or "How are you?" Instead, the cashier aggressively slid my first glass Starbucks drink across the counter so hard I genuinely thought it was going to shatter. She then scanned the second one and practically threw it, causing both drinks to slam into each other and fall over. My family and I just looked at each other in disbelief because we couldn't believe what we were watching. It didn't stop there. She grabbed our bag of doughnuts and literally tossed it down to the end of the counter instead of simply handing it to us. At that point, I finally asked, "I'm sorry... are you having a bad day? Jeez." Her response was, "No, I'm just in a hurry. I have people waiting." I looked behind us expecting a long line. There was my cousin, who was next, and one other customer holding a single Red Bull. I chose not to argue because I had my two young little sisters with me, but they were just as shocked by this woman's behavior as I was. No customer deserves to be treated like they're an inconvenience for simply buying breakfast. Between seeing a rat in the bakery area and receiving some of the rudest customer service I've experienced, this visit completely ruined our first impression. I sincerely hope management addresses both the cleanliness of the store and the professionalism of the staff because neither was acceptable.
