Specifically regarding Clovis, California Vons grocery store To Whom It May Concern, This letter serves as a formal complaint and demand for immediate resolution regarding a serious incident that occurred at your Vons location in Clovis, California. CC: Corporate Office – Albertsons Companies ⸻ I am a woman in my 60s living on a fixed income, and I am reporting what I believe to be an unauthorized charge and improper handling of a debit transaction by your cashier. During checkout, I attempted to complete a purchase totaling approximately $24 and selected $100 cash back. However, after repeated interference by the cashier—who continued pressing prompts on her end and instructing me to reinsert my card—I was ultimately charged $224. At no point did I knowingly authorize any additional $100 charge beyond my purchase and intended cash back. ⸻ What makes this extremely serious • The cashier repeatedly interfered with my transaction while I was attempting to complete it • I was instructed to reinsert my card multiple times while she manipulated the system • I was charged an additional $100 that I did not knowingly approve I did not realize this immediately because I do not routinely check receipts. Had I not later reviewed it while looking for another receipt, this money would have been lost without my knowledge. ⸻ Impact What should have been a positive experience returning to your store—one I was genuinely excited about—became a stressful and upsetting situation. As someone on a fixed income, losing $100—even temporarily—is significant. This situation caused: • Ongoing stress • Multiple calls to my bank • Repeated attempts to contact the store ⸻ Failure of Store Management I made multiple attempts over several hours to contact the Clovis store and speak with management. I was told the acting manager, Matt, was unavailable each time. Due to the lack of response and inability to resolve this at the store level, I was forced to escalate the matter and have since opened a corporate case with Albertsons as of Friday, and it has been assigned a case number. ⸻ Legal Concern This situation involves: • An unauthorized charge • Improper interference with a customer’s debit transaction • A failure to ensure clear customer consent during payment processing Additionally, as an older adult, I feel this reflects a serious lapse in protecting vulnerable customers during financial transactions. ⸻ Demand for Resolution I am requesting: 1. Immediate refund of $100 to my original payment method 2. Written explanation of how this occurred 3.
