  First time trying out the Pokemon vending machine, had some difficulties with the machine itself, with it freezing on an error screen. I know that the employees there have absolutely nothing to do with it, but the person I had been talking to at the time joked about “breaking the machine” and the employee overseeing the check out lanes said snarkily that she “hates those stupid machines” and that she can’t wait until they get rid of them. First of all, that was uncalled for. We were not in anyone’s way, we were polite, and if there were issues in the past we had nothing to do with that. Second of all, talking in that manner to customers is very unprofessional and should have been handled differently. Both what she said (which, we didn’t ask for, and also was really out there and unnecessary) and how she said it, is not needed in a professional customer service setting. If she hates that machine so much, go to a different zone. I was excited to try the pokemon vending machine out for the first time being from out of state, but she kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

  Good selections, clean store, and helpful staff. I especially like the pharmacy very senior friendly.

  Cannot find better meat, outside of an actual Butcher's meat shop. Expensive, but, well worth it. I shoppped Safeways for years, out of town, due to their convenience of always being the closest grocery store to our job sites. Even our 5 jobs in Hawaii, we went to Safeway for meat, veggies, and beers.

  Customer service has really gone downhill. On Thursday 5/14, we bought tri-tip, but the club price didn’t apply at self-checkout. When my husband asked for help, the clerk questioned whether we even got the meat from the store — even though we had picked it up directly from the meat department clerk. Then again on Sunday 5/17, I purchased the Chips Ahoy promotion (mix and match 3 or more for $1.99 each) for my kids. The club card price didn’t apply, and the self-checkout clerk immediately told me I hadn’t read the tags correctly, even though the tags and my app both reflected the sale. He was so convinced it was my mistake that I just asked him to remove the items instead of doing a simple price check. What makes this especially disappointing is that both my husband and I worked at this Safeway for years as department managers before promoting out of Dewey. We know the level of customer service that store used to provide, and these experiences were frustrating and discouraging.
