  When i was 12, my whole family was hit by a drunk driver. My father suffered a broken neck and was ejected from the vehicle. My mother was hit in the driver's door and the wheel was pushed up into the leg area of her seat pinning her in. Her face hit the steering wheel so hard that she shattered both her jaws and literally swallowed all her teeth, which she had to have pumped from her stomach and put back in her gums so that they could wire her jaws together for six months. She also had her Ray cut off by her head slamming through the side window after. I sustained a head and face laceration that took 150 stitches to close at 12 years old. Only by the grace of God, did my little brother and both sisters walk away with no physical injuries. The psychological ramifications lasted for years. One of my sister's couldn't even live at home with us while my mom healed because she was unrecognizable and it terrified her so bad that she would pass out every time she saw my mom. She was 10 at the time. At 12 years of age I had to learn how to cut the wires in my mom's mouth in case she started choking. Everything she ate for six months had to be absolutely liquid to avoid choking. Can you imagine six months of no solid food? I can, as I witnessed it. The impact to our vehicle was so hard that it caused it to roll six times. It's a miracle any of us are alive. These are the types of horrific things that happen to innocent people and family's when a drunk driver gets behind a wheel. The reason for this review is this, I bought groceries yesterday at the Albertsons on East Valley Parkway in Escondido and witnessed a severely drunk woman be allowed to buy a half gallon of vodka and get in her car and leave the parking lot of this store. I will never shop at this store again, for the reasons I have just listed. My children and grandchildren live in Escondido. I have friends who live there. And there are tens of thousands of innocent people living there as well. If you sell alcohol, it is your lawful duty to never sell to someone who is obviously already drunk and driving a vehicle. If you do, and they leave your store and injure or kill someone, you are then legally responsible for their actions because you knowingly sold alcohol to someone very clearly drunk. My story is one of so very many that ended with worse injuries or death by these people who believe they have the right to drive drunk and put others at risk. Just food for thought to any of you out there who have driven after drinking. Maybe not drunk, but with alcohol still in your system. If you make excuses one time why it's OK for you to drive after drinking, you will always make the excuse and one day, this will likely be you. Please drink responsibly, and never get in a vehicle even after one sip of alcohol. All our lives depend on it. Cindy
