- AAAllyJul 8, 20262.0If you plan on purchasing alcohol with anyone else present—including a minor or someone who simply forgot their wallet, do not come to this Safeway. They enforce an incredibly strict group ID policy here. An older blonde woman that was my cashier was incredibly rude and confrontational. When I explained I just didn't bring my wallet inside, she kept badgering me and repeatedly asking if I wasn't 21. There is a way to state store policy without interrogating and disrespecting paying customers. I did report this experience to the manager but still want to share my experience here.

After I had already paid for the flowers, I continued shopping for a few other items. At checkout, the cashier asked to see my ID and the receipt for the flowers, even though they had already been purchased. The interaction left me feeling singled out and embarrassed. As a Mexican customer in a predominantly white community, I couldn’t help but wonder whether I was being treated differently because of my ethnicity. I understand that stores have policies to prevent theft, but those policies should be applied consistently and respectfully to every customer. I hope Safeway reviews how these situations are handled so that all customers feel welcomed and treated fairly
