  Do NOT order cakes from this location unless you want your order canceled overnight before your event. I ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday on Sunday, August 16, to be picked up on Saturday, August 22, at 9:15 a.m. I woke up that morning at 7 a.m., and you can imagine my surprise when I saw an email and a text message telling me, “Your order has been canceled.” They sent me the text message the night before the event at 1:40 a.m.! When I called to find out why, the baker at Safeway Homestead in Cupertino told me they didn’t have the topper for the cake. She called other stores but couldn’t find it. She had a LOT OF ATTITUDE, and I know I was nervous because, unlike her, I was trying to find a solution for a birthday party starting at 10 a.m. with 55 guests. On top of my anxiety after receiving the bad news, I felt like she just hung up the phone without offering any solution or even saying goodbye. After that, I went to the store to talk to her in person. I asked, “If you don’t have the topper, can you at least make the cake and I’ll find something to put on top?” She eventually agreed, but she said something that made me feel even worse: “DO YOU WANT THE CAKE OR NOT?” Is that really the way to talk to a customer whose cake was canceled overnight? I asked for her name, and she said Josie. I then asked her to show me her name tag under her apron, and her name was actually Jotika. On top of the bad experience ordering the cake from Safeway, when I finally received the cake without the topper, they wanted me to pay $59.99, even though the email confirmation said $53.99! I went to customer service and explained the situation. I asked if they could at least discount the price of the topper since I didn’t receive it. They were much more understanding and, at least, gave me a $10 discount.

  Got a coconut from this place. Cut it open and it was already moldy. The page still has the nerve to say "guaranteed fresh". I took a picture, grabbed my receipt, and went back the next day. They still wouldn’t do anything. Just hit me with the usual “that’s our policy” speech and “how do we know you didn’t buy it somewhere else?” Bro. Who is out here shopping around for a rotten coconut just to pull a fast one on customer service? Honestly it felt like they deal with this all the time. Like people line up trying to squeeze extra stuff out of them, so now regular customers get treated like we’re running a scam. Super annoying. Waste of money, waste of time!

  Rosa, Ming and the team at the Safeway bakery in Cupertino (on Homestead Rd and Saratoga-Sunnyvale) did a fabulous job on our special order cake. Thank you for your excellence! It was delicious!

  Was on the way down to the Starbucks couple block down and stopped by this Safeway ( Lucky received some donations Safeway gift card this morning, been homeless and sleeping in my car for 2 month already due to the county and issue with the digital guard) Glad to do groceries shopping again, the last time I had was age ago already. This location carrying out some great fresh products, also they do sell a lot international products from all Asia to Middle Eastern should check it out you might find something surprised. This store also have pharmacy but not open daily also you can make appointment to do lab test here as well along with Ready to eat food section plus Fresh make sandwiches/Sushi bar also Chinese food to go in the corner of the store. Store also have Free wifi and clean bathroom which is prefect. Come check it out ! 💯🌝🌚✨🦝🐦‍⬛®️

  I like this Safeway because of its wine section. Most alcohol I can get myself without asking for a staff to unlock, and even if I have to there is always a dedicated wine sector staff around, and they would hand over the bottle to me instead of taking it to checkout and asking me to line up at a specific register like many other stores.
