  I came into Safeway around 7:30 PM on October 11th in a hurry to purchase some hydrogen peroxide and look at a product I had bought in the store the day before. My dog had eaten a gumdrop squishy toy, and I was trying to figure out what it was made of and get home as quickly as possible to help him. Everything was fine until I finished checking out and went to leave. As I was walking out, the older woman working the self-checkout area said, “Thank you, have a good night.” I responded with “Thanks, you too.” Apparently, she didn't hear me, because she then found it appropriate to yell across the store, “THANK YOU!” followed by “MANNERS! THEY'RE IMPORTANT!” Are you kidding me? First of all, I DID respond to her. Just because she didn't hear me doesn't mean I didn't say anything. Second, even if I hadn't responded, what gives an employee the right to yell at a customer and lecture them about manners? If she has trouble hearing people, maybe she should consider that before assuming someone is being rude and shouting at them as they leave. What makes this even more upsetting is that I was dealing with a potentially life-threatening situation involving my dog. I was worried, stressed, and trying to get home as quickly as possible. The absolute last thing I needed was to be yelled at by a Safeway employee over something so ridiculous. Had I not been in such a hurry, I absolutely would have turned around and addressed her behavior right then and there. I shop at this Safeway regularly, and I find this kind of behavior completely inappropriate, especially from someone who works in customer service. She had absolutely no idea what I was going through or why I was in such a hurry. Maybe next time she'll stop and think before deciding to publicly embarrass a customer over what she *thinks* is a lack of manners. People have things going on in their lives that you know nothing about. A little kindness and understanding go a long way. Not every customer is going to respond loudly enough for you to hear, and frankly, nobody owes you a conversation on their way out the door. I hope management addresses this because customers should not have to worry about being yelled at or publicly scolded while shopping. So, to the employee who felt the need to lecture me about manners, thank you for being so incredibly rude during an already stressful situation. How's that for manners?

  I went to safeway and asked about a item, asked if they had more? Very rudely told what u see is what we have... Now this is not the first time.. this store has the most rude employee's. So guess they do not keep stock in back so dont ask. Ms Davis and Kathy cashier are the worst and laziest of all .. they know here at coast not many options for shopping and it shows! Now they do have a few awesome employees and i feel for them because they have to work harder to cover for those who fail. Maybe re- train customer service or better yet need be fired! Tired of spending a lot of money in this store to be treated rude... I wont be back and encourage others to do the same. If we dont nothing will change....thank u
