  They had what I wanted and the store was clean and easy to shop. Parking lot was nice and seemed to be free of crazy people. Only thing the combo the checker seemed a little bit off. I believe the term is tweaking. Talking fast and interrupting, a lot of hand on face and hair, and eyes batting back and forth. Ultimately, he did bring up my food and I got a $9 discount with my phone number, thanks to him reminding me. But the behavior was strange.

  I've never experienced a worse run grocery store in my life, and that's including third world countries. No cashiers, elderly and injured stranded having to scan their own groceries, and when asking for extra bags so one could somehow bag their entirely full cart themselves, staff just stared with a blank look like they didn't even know they were in a store or how speaking works. If you're going to make your customers work for you, you should be paying them. Completely unacceptable. Delivery from this store also sucks so you can't win either way. Better to starve to death.

  The store is fine, but they push their online delivery and pickup services hard and I had 2 very bad experiences (late delivery-by an hour- missing items, unauthorized tip, overcharging) plus horrible online customer service (they wouldn't refund me for items not delivered). I'll never use their delivery service again

  So disappointed in customer service which lately is non existent in the Carpinteria store. 4:18 pm on Sunday. Three checkouts open. Each 15 customers deep. Self check line was a dozen deep. Seriously the prices in your store should at least offer customer service. This experience was totally unacceptable!!! What ever happened to “threes a crowd”? What ever happened to baggers and checkers all working to check your customers out in a timely manner? I am appalled at the lack of customer service in this store. I worked in this industry for over 20 years and I am at a loss of how deteriorated customer service and common business practices have stooped so below acceptable!

  Honestly, the ownership of this location needs to sit the entire staff down and have a serious conversation about how customers are treated. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been accused of stealing bags because employees think I didn’t pay the 10-cent fee. It’s ridiculous to walk into a store and regularly be treated like a thief over a ten-cent bag. Employees also need to keep their personal opinions to themselves. On one occasion I used a wine carrier for some heavy water bottles, and an employee walked over and told me I was “the reason they run out so fast.” The comment was completely uncalled for and rude. I’ll also specifically call out Emma. She is consistently rude and often just stares at customers during checkout. In one instance, when I decided I didn’t need an item, she literally threw it onto the register behind her while giving me a stone-cold look. Rosie on the other hand is another one who completely hates her job and to be honest I have no idea why she is there. Constantly rude and never has had a smile on her face. Is she really redeemable at this point? This kind of behavior has gotten completely out of hand. If I were the owner, I would sit the whole team down and retrain them on basic respect and customer service. Something needs to change. A 1 star is a compliment at this point.
