I teach wine classes and Lindsay from the Concierge team provides the food for the pairings. Previously I would prepare everything myself but the quality of service provided by Lindsay has guaranteed that those days are over. Immaculate presentation, creativity, culinary ability, and attention to detail that have far exceeded any expectations I could have had from a grocery store and more aligned with what I expect from a high end private caterer. She was able to quickly understand my needs and demonstrate that through her thoughtful and consistent communication. It has made a measurable positive impact on my business and I would recommend her to anyone with upmost confidence. Top tier guest service.

We have lived in this neighborhood for 14 years, and this store has always been our go-to grocery store. We knew so many of the longtime employees, enjoyed chatting with the cashiers, and Diana—who was always helping bag, clean up, or seemingly do a little bit of everything—was consistently so kind. It genuinely felt like our neighborhood store. When we saw all the renovations and improvements happening and learned it was becoming a Pavilions, we were actually really excited. The store looks beautiful, and we loved seeing the expanded selection and all of the new products being brought in. Unfortunately, that excitement disappeared pretty quickly once we started shopping. It feels like nearly everything we regularly purchased went up by 50 cents, a dollar, or sometimes even more. Those increases add up incredibly fast when you’re grocery shopping for a family of six. We aren’t talking about a few specialty or premium items—we noticed it across so many of the everyday groceries we routinely bought there that our own neighborhood grocery store has essentially priced us out. What makes it even more disappointing is that so many of the familiar longtime employees seem to be gone as well. Part of what kept us loyal for 14 years wasn’t just convenience; it was the people. Walking in and seeing employees who knew the neighborhood and had been there for years made a difference. Is the new Pavilions beautiful? Absolutely. Is there a bigger selection? Definitely. But I would gladly trade some of the upgrades to have our friendly, reasonably priced neighborhood grocery store back. After 14 years of this being our first choice, we now find ourselves shopping elsewhere most of the time. That’s honestly really sad, because we were exactly the customers who wanted to love and enjoy the new store.

Formerly Vons. Excellent selection but quite pricey.

Overall, it’s a decent store. It’s right up the hill from my house, so I shop there pretty often. It’s definitely pricier than the Vons that was here before, although it does have a larger wine selection, if you’re into that sort of thing. The produce section… yikes. 😬 I honestly can never find an apple that doesn’t have numerous bruises, and some of the bruises are incredibly large and deep. It seems like damaged fruit isn’t being culled as often as it should. Maybe if you’re lucky enough to shop right after a fresh batch has been put out, you might find an undamaged one, but I’ve never had that luck. I also frequently notice the fruit seems old, to the point where the apples have that greasy feel and unpleasant smell. Produce should never get to that point while still being sold at full price. It’s especially frustrating because this is supposed to be a higher-end grocery store, so I really expected better quality. I really hope management looks into the produce department and makes sure damaged and aging fruit is removed from the shelves more often. Nobody wants bruised and old fruit, and it’s disappointing when that’s the only option available. 😢
