We’ve been here a few times before with my in-laws, but this time my husband and I had such an amazing experience! The view is always amazing here especially when the sun is setting. The lobster bisque was hot and delicious, and my sea bass with lobster risotto was incredible—the fish was flaky, soft, and perfectly cooked. My husband had the steak and lobster and said his steak was cooked perfectly. The asparagus side is seriously to die for, it is so fresh and delicious! Our server, Lynn, was wonderful and attentive. The general manager, Amy, was also so friendly and made a point to stop by and say hello to the guests. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Very overpriced. Halibut dinner ($52) overcooked and served without sauce. Server was nowhere to be found when I wanted to ask about it. Spent $175 for what was supposed to be a celebration meal, but this is nowhere near the quality of other fine dining restaurants I regularly go to. Chart House is not a fine dining experience no matter how it's advertised.

Really enjoyed our dinner at Chart House. The seafood was excellent, especially the mussels — perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce. The clam chowder was also very good, and we enjoyed the shrimp and lobster as well. The location is another huge plus. The ocean view is beautiful and makes the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Service was pleasant and everything came out well. Great seafood, beautiful views, and a very nice atmosphere overall.

What a disappointment. Del Mar is a beautiful town and this restaurant is beautiful with an amazing view. The valet was the highlight of the evening. The wonderful service stopped in the parking lot. We arrived at the time of our reservation and were told they needed to set up our table for us. I saw a handful of empty tables from the seating area that had an awful smell. Nobody was setting any tables up. We waited 20 minutes and we're seated at one of those empty tables that were already set up. My wife removed her napkin from the plate it was set on. At the prices of these meals you'd think they could have made some effort instead of folding it flat. Her plate looked like it previously had a glazed donut on it. We got to look at it for another 15 minutes before the personality free waitress came to take our drink order and remove the dirty plate. My specialty drink had less flavor than water. Candace brought our bread out after 30 minutes. My steak was ordered medium rare but came out medium well and my lobster was overcooked but we didn't see Candace until I had given up and eaten the so-so meal. Candace cleared our table and we asked for a refill of my wife's drink. She brought the bill I paid and when she returned my receipt she brought the refill. I grew up working in restaurants and make every attempt at being understanding but when I drop over $150 for two on a meal I do have some expectation of service better than I receive at McDonalds. The tables were so close together the lady sitting behind me had to move her chair into the walkway.

I have always loved the Chart House. I grew up on Maui and we went all the time. I have made it a go-to for many special occasions. Today is my husband’s birthday. We chose to go there. We made a reservation, sat near an open window with ocean breeze. Started with drinks. Delicious. Ordered New England clam chowder. Delicious. Here’s where it starts to go downhill. Ordered the Bruschetta appetizer. Soggy limp strips of baguette with a slop of straight-from-the-tub-ricotta. Topped with cold roasted tomatoes, 3 onion curls. I wish I was kidding but I’m really not. I was shocked. All of it was cold and soggy. If they ran out? Just say so. We also ordered the sword fish on sticky rice. Sticky rice was great. Fish was so overcooked and dry. We were very disappointed as we both love seafood. This is the place to order seafood right?! Wrong. We still held out hope and wanted to go the distance, really celebrate. Got the lava cake. When I went to cut it with my fork, let’s just say, a knife was needed. A knife should NOT be necessary to eat lava cake. Guys, I’m so sad as I have such fond memories of this classic restaurant but the food experience lacked in every way. Service, atmosphere and all the servers are top tier. This was my first ever bad food experience at the CH. Not sure if I’d risk another $180 to see if was just an ‘off’ night.
