When you’ve eaten Thai food in Thailand, you tend to be a little picky about your Thai restaurants…!
While staying at the nearby Hampton Inn & Suites in Camarillo, I was looking for a good lunch spot before heading to the Zachari Dunes Resort at Mandalay Beach. Tamarind Thai Cuisine caught my attention with its excellent ratings and many reviews, and fortunately, it was just a short walk from my hotel.
I’ve enjoyed some amazing Thai food around the world, including in Thailand, so my expectations are pretty high. Tamarind made an excellent first impression, with a lovely outdoor dining area, attractive decor, and a relaxed atmosphere.
My server, May, was friendly, attentive, and did an excellent job throughout my visit. She made sure I was well taken care of and left me wanting for nothing.
I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, or Drunken Noodles, with extra sauce and requested THAI HOT spice. May gave me that familiar “Are you sure you want Thai hot?” look, but I assured her I was ready for the heat!
When the food arrived, I was impressed by the generous portion of wide rice noodles, vegetables, and beef tossed in a rich, savory, spicy sauce. The noodles were cooked perfectly, there was plenty of sauce, and the flavors were exactly what I was hoping for. Absolutely delicious!
The restaurant began filling up shortly after I arrived, with several customers appearing to be regulars; always a good sign…! The portion was so generous that I couldn’t finish even half of it, which meant plenty of tasty leftovers for later.
Would I recommend Tamarind Thai Cuisine? Absolutely! With excellent food, generous portions, a welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding service from May, this was a terrific find. If you’re craving flavorful Thai food, don’t hesitate to give Tamarind a try, and if you like spicy food, go for the Thai hot!
