- HWH WAug 9, 20263.0I was excited to try Lovina as the final restaurant of my Calistoga trip, especially after my parents had raved about their brunch. The service was amazing overall and as a solo traveler, I felt genuinely welcomed and catered to from the moment I walked in. The setting was relaxing, and the decor and theme was absolutely adorable. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. I ordered the pork/beef bolognese with a side of broccolini. The broccolini was served lukewarm and smothered in a combo of cheese, sauce, and far too many almonds. The bolognese was even more disappointing, especially since it seemed to be one of the standout dishes based on other reviews. The sauce lacked flavor, and tasted overall low quality to me. They provided chili flakes on the side which made the pasta just okay. While I was struggling to eat, one of the waitresses kept walked by asking, “Are you still enjoying?” I assume this was meant as a nice way to ask if I was done eating but it made it even worse in the moment. Clearly I’m in the minority here and I’m glad so many others enjoy the food - it just wasn’t for me.
