Completely overpriced bagels. Como on, prices are simply ridiculously high for what you get. Moving on...
I paid $25 (that’s TWENTY-FIVE dollars) for a tuna bagel and a Coke.
I specifically ordered a sesame bagel. When I received my food, there were virtually no sesame seeds on it. When I pointed this out, I was initially told that I had ordered a plain, which is not true. To be fair, the employee was very pleasant and polite throughout the interaction, and I don’t want this review to come across as a criticism of her personally.
She offered to have the bagel remade, but after taking it back and making me wait about 10 minutes, she returned with what appeared to be the exact same bagel and explained that it was actually a sesame bagel, it just “didn’t have much sesame on it.” That explanation was confusing, especially since there were several sesame bagels in the display case that clearly had plenty of sesame seeds on them.
So first I was told I ordered plain, then I was told I had actually ordered sesame, and finally I was told the bagel I received was sesame despite having almost no sesame seeds on it.
Honestly, this probably wouldn’t have bothered me nearly as much if I hadn’t paid $25 for such a simple bagel. At that price, I expect the order to be correct and the experience to match the premium price tag.
I stopped by for a bagel because I was looking for something light and simple. Unfortunately, the customer service experience left a lot to be desired.
When I arrived, I was unfamiliar with the menu and wanted to hear what the staff recommended. Instead of being guided through the options, I was told to read the menu and decide for myself, despite the menu not being clearly visible. When I explained that I wasn't sure what I wanted, I felt I was immediately steered toward some of the more expensive items rather than being asked what fit my preferences.
After mentioning that I had a light appetite, I was eventually told that a basic bagel with avocado would probably be the best fit and was referred to as "the cheapest option." The way this was communicated came across as dismissive rather than helpful. To make matters worse, after I had already paid and found a seat, I was informed of another option that may have been a better fit for what I originally wanted.
What stood out most was not the food, but the overall customer service. As someone with five years of customer service experience, I understand the importance of listening to customers, helping them make informed choices, and making them feel welcome. Unfortunately, I did not feel that level of care during my visit. At times, I felt judged for choosing a lower-cost item and that the interaction was more focused on upselling than meeting the customer's needs.
Based on previous reviews and comments about this establishment, it seems that similar concerns have been raised before. While I hope the business takes this feedback constructively, experiences like this can make it difficult for customers to return. The food may be fine, but customer service is what leaves a lasting impression, and in this case, that impression was disappointing.
