I was so disappointed by this place :( Food: - The lobster roll: Flavorful in some areas and too salty because if excessive capers in the other. The home fries on the side were very average - both in texture and flavor. And the worst part I found a piece of hair in there :( - Killer BLT: Flavorful but the chicken patty could have been crispier. The garlic fries on the side also felt soggy and not as good as garlic fries can be. Ambience and Service: Though the food came quickly, the line to place the order moves slowly. Every other aspect of the place is self-service which is ok since the nice back seating area makes up for any inconvenience.

This place is a must-stop every time we are in Berkeley. One of the best vegan restaurants in the Bay Area. The pastrami Reuben, Caesar salad, and cannolis are some of our favorites. If you’ve never tried this place, do yourself a favor and stop by!

TL;DR: one of the top vegan restaurants in the Bay Area, if not the top. People travel from all of the Bay Area to eat here, but more impressively, it draws visitors from around the country. I’ve always been a food motivated traveler, always looking up restaurants/food experiences as the first thing and main priority. Now vegan, I often compare the vegan fare in cities I’m traveling to with how the Bay Area stacks up, with Oakland being our strongest contender. In the Bay Area, what vegan-friendly restaurants would you use to compare against other cities? This is unquestionably one of them, especially when considering their market that includes their vegan cheese and meats, frozen food from former sister restaurant, which was a delectable vegan Italian spot. Yes, that means that have elevated frozen pizzas. Been a main stay since around 2014-15. Proud to have an institution in our backyard that continues to invent itself with new dishes. Hope for more opportunities to reintegrate King’s Feet dishes (maybe a Kings feet night?), or even more consistently selling their offerings like the frozen pizza.

Let me start out by saying that I have eaten at vegan restaurants, all across Europe, and around the United States, including LA, and the vegan Mecca city of Portland. I would put this place on my top 3 best vegan restaurants I’ve ever been to. What more needs to be said? If you’re not a vegan, and you don’t enjoy your meal, message me, and I’ll refund your money! The service every time I went was incredibly friendly as well. I couldn’t possibly rate this place any higher…. (Yes, it’s pricy, but each time I went, I had enough leftovers for another meal)

I’m giving this place 5 stars for a few reasons 1) For a deli style restaurant / cafe in Berkeley this was better than expected and very reasonably priced for the quality and portion of the meal. NO it’s not going to compare to an east coast deli in NYC , but it’s a strong choice for a meal 2) The ambiance was quiet and we didn’t realize that there was extra seating out back. So it has inside and outside seating options . We happened to visit in August and it was a sunny early afternoon 3) The real winner here is that my table ordered 3 very different styles of Sandwhich ( Pastrami Reuben , Bahn Mi, and Thisismyaddiction) . All three of those sandwiches were very tasty and well flavored for their respective genre. I don’t think there is a “bad “ Sandwhich in the menu . They are all solid choices just depending on your mood. I would have the Reuben sandwich all day everyday if I could . The last thing I think worth mentioning is that all the of sandwiches are sub $20 and are more than filling for a meal. The portions are generous . So it is nice to feel like you’re getting your moneys worth .
