I am very disappointed about the food in this restaurant because I went to this restaurant last June for my birthday with a big group of friends and everything was better. I went there today 7/7/26 to feel better about my team loosing the Fifa world cup and I took my best friend with me to eat Sea food, but we got a bad experience with the food because the Steam clam broth was very salty and the clams taste nothing, and my linguine shrimp and crab was empty in protein, I couldn’t taste the shrimp with just four pieces and few crab meat in a big dish. The service was good, the waiter was polite and the ambiance is the most important for pictures because of the ocean view but the food is not up to good taste. It’s better to take pictures outside and take pictures than to eat food with no taste.

A Disappointing Birthday Celebration
We chose Skates on the Bay to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were treated with indifference. The service was cold, and at several points we felt overlooked and unimportant. When we made our reservation, we clearly mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday. However, when we arrived, the only thing they seemed interested in was trying to sell us a birthday card. We politely declined, and after that, it felt like there was no effort to make our celebration special. We didn’t even receive a simple “Happy Birthday,” even though they knew we were there to celebrate.
On top of that, the food was disappointing and did not meet our expectations for a restaurant with such a beautiful location.
It was truly unfortunate because we chose this restaurant for a special occasion, and we left feeling disappointed. I hope they improve both their customer service and the way they treat guests celebrating important moments.
We enjoyed our lunch n cocktails here. Highly recommend to make a reservation. We didn't know this upon arrival. Luckily we were still able to get a table in the bar area. The Curry Mussel was our favorite.
When we arrived, our interaction with the worker at the entrance, after we had stood there waiting 5-10 minutes as she was not at her desk. Gave off.. verrry snootyyy.. verrry not cutesyyy😅
Our Waiter was great tho👌🏼

I love the location. Don't get me wrong, but it's always very breezy in this area because of the water. Bring a jacket if you want to walk out side. I like the restaurant vibe, but they didnt have anything gluten free. I was with about 15 people and I sat there and watched them eat. I knew I couldn't eat there in advance. So i ate before I went. Nearing the end, I did ask if they could cook me some shrimp without butter or seasoning because I am also dairy intolerant among other things. They accommodated me but I wish they had something more for people with other sensitivities- nothing spicy, dairy, gluten. Otherwise, it's a really beautiful place. The other people in my party said the food was pretty good.
This was my 1st visit at this restaurant. We arrived as the sun was setting. This location is the best view of the sunset. We were sat at the wrong table. The waitress brought somebody else's appetizer to us, realized we just arrived then turned around and presented it to the correct table.(gross)
We were moved to the correct table quickOK. They gave us the FREE WiFi. That was a plus.
We put in our drink order. I ordered my regular dirty martini with Kettle One vodka, straight up with blue cheese stuffed olives. NOTE: the bar used olives that are stuffed with cheese, they do not do them fresh. That is NOT blue cheese.
We ordered lite fair since the hour was getting late. Chowder, with Ceasars salad, mussels (LG bowl) with Ceasars salad with extra anchovies, not sure what the other. woman ordered. The food was delicious, fresh.
The staff spoke English.
The bathrooms were well attended to. The location is dated and the upkeep could be attended to. The food we ate was good but if I never return I would be ok.
